The cat probbly was just smuthering and cathching the oil. Now that you have test pipe in...you can see

That sounds like your running rich. Do you have an a/f meter or safc? Oil usually looks black when your burning. too much fuel looks blueish out the tail pipe. Correct me if I'm wrong, that's what mine looked like and I was rich.

........and it only happened when I would stomp on it. the ecu trying to keep up with the turbo and dumping fuel into the combustion chamber.

Other way around dude...blues smok when you burning oil. Do i think what is bas...the test pipe? Its probably your seals, it has nothing to do with your testpipe. Its just that now that your exhaust is freeer flowing yo can see the smoke,

Is it the original turbo? And have you done a compression and leakdown test(s)? How much oil does your car consume over what period of time? The fact that you can see it now can be contributed to the lack of a cat. converter, but I will try to help nail down the source, if you want.

Joe

The blue smoke is oil when you get on it, it burns oil that is a sign that the piston rings are gone and you're gettting blow by. But since it is a turbo car it could also be the turbo seals gone and blowing oil into the engine.
