Hey guys.

Can cylinder heads from 1G and 2G cars be identified by their external markings?

The markings appear on the side of the head next to the thermostat housing.

I have two heads that are supposed to be turbo heads. One is marked G6.

The other is marked 4A.

is their any significance to these markings?

Thanks,

-Scott

In the 1G's the turbo and NT heads are exactly the same. The only difference is the cams as far as I know. Otherwise the part numbers are exactly the same.

Can any of you 1G guys take a look at the marking on your cylinder head next to the thermo housing? I'd be curious to see what is there.

Thanks to all,

-Scott

4AGE is a 1.6L DOHC Toyota motor used in the Corolla GT-S and MR-2's (here in the US).

I'm not aware of any casting on a 4G63 head with the stamping 4AGE.
