To all of you vendors and wisemen,
maybee you can help me out.

i recently blew up my 91 gsx then gutted it because I decided it was time to go all track (ok maybee a little street to show up those vetts). When I purchased the car (7 yrs ago) the original owner was an HKS junkie(the only company that made parts back then for dsm) and didnt know how to tune. I got the car for 600 bucks because he threw the valves into the pistons, all it needed was a new head and it was loaded with thousands of dollars of hks performance parts. My question is what should I use off this list on my new block I plan on pushing over 500WHP and dont want any parts that cannot support it. It doesnt concern me if I shouldnt use some or all of the parts because they will just go onto my parts car (wont go to waste) I just dont know if some of this is absolete after all it was purchased in 92/93.

old parts

HKS pfc F-CON (programed fuel computer)
EVC (electronic valve control)
Turbo Timer
FCD (fuel cut defencer)
660 cc injectors
I beleive this is a small 16G all the numbers are machined off if its not let me know it held up to 25 psi strong (check out pic)
3"downpipe
3"exhaust

New setup
2.3 stroker
head ported polished 5angle valve job
forrest intake
forced performance T4 (still deciding)
HKS T4 manifold

I know its lengthy but deciding is a bi***

You need a vpc, or possible the ls1 maft, because a 1g mas isn't going to handle a t4.

Excuse me? All 16G look the same because they are the same. What makes the big different is the 7cm exhaust housing instead of the stock DSM 6cm.

As far as the HKS stuff, but I can tell you that the HKS FCD is crap, F-CON is pretty weak compared to a full stand-alone, which you should be running if you're going for such a lofty goal of a stroker and a T4, and the EVC (Which I believe is boost control) should theoretically be still good, but you can get add-ons for stand-alones which will control that boost...

I mean I guess you could keep it around, but it could all be easily be replaced by an AEM unit which will do a much better job.

Cait sith -- thanks for the info looks like all of the HKS crap is spare parts for the laser now

diamondstar36 -- If i Measure the internal exhaust diameter this will tell me if its a 16G or a BIG 16G correct ?

Thanks again

I was under the impression that the only difference between the big and small where the compressor wheels. Also, the big and small basically both come with 7cm's unless you got an old 16g which usually came with a 6cm. Anybody want to back this up?

that is a small 16G. The big16G comes with the 7cm2 exhaust housing, and the td06 compressor housing becuase the wheel is bigger than the small 16g.

Can someone say misinformation? Big16g's do not all come with td06 housing, i have actually never heard of that. I can back that up because i have a td05 big16g sitting in my garage....they look pretty much identical to smalls when in a car. Also, how can you tell that it has a 7cm Ex. Hsing from that pic??

you can't tell that there is a 7cm housing in that pic. But that is a 16G wheel in there. Sorry if I was "mis-informed" about my information.

Sorry about the pic I will take another one tonight when I get off work. I have to dissasemble the rest of it to get a picture of the exhaust housing.
But I want to know which it is before I use it on the Laser.

Anyone know a cheap but good rebuild shop. Before I disassembled the GSX I was blowing black smoke every time I spooled up past 17/18 psi.
Any quick checks to see if it was the turbo?(play, seals)

Thanks for the help

If it's blowing black smoke then that's just the car running rich like it should. If it's blue smoke however then you should start checking around.

White = Antifreeze
Blue = Oil
Black = Unburnt Fuel

dam I was running that rich.
I mean my car was known for it, I even had trouble racing people because they new my car was fast and when I blew by them they litterly could not see shit it was like a dust cloud from hell. They were afraid they would hit something when they lost. LOL

The f-con a stock fuel pump with another ran in series after that, and 660's can create that much fuel WOW!
guess the laser wont have any probs leaning out

Wrong they both come with the same turbine wheel (pretty sure on this), turbine housing, center section, and compressor housing. The difference is the compressor wheel. Both are TD05H's. Now you can get Big and Small 16gs with the 6 cm^2 turbine housing, but most of the vendors sell them with 7 cm^2 so I will say they are the same.

Any sane person buys a [whatever]16G with the 7cm housing. The only difference between the big and little is the COMPRESSOR wheel and most likely the exhaust wheel has been clipped.
