I just installed my Autometer Ultra-Lite Boost gauge

i spike at 16psi. then it goes down to 15psi. vac is at 16

So would this mean i dont need a MBC...cuz i can't go any higher boost anyways without new fuel pump and what not.


now i need to install my air/fuel ratio gauge

an MBC is a good idea anyway... a good one helps stabilize boost at the desired setting, instead of depending on a faulty BCS

If it only spikes to 16 then settles at 15 you are fine. I wouldn't worry about a 1psi spike.
