hey guys i need your opinions on fidanza 9lbs flywheel for my sixbolt
how good are they and do they last as long as oem..
cause im doing the engine swap and my sixbolt didnt have a flywheel
any info on this flywheel would be so nice....and especially from those who have it
thanks..:dsm:

Got this from RREs site:

"Lots of people freak out about any "theoretical" drivability issues. They are wrong, it's all good. They are not too light for street use, they won't break apart, they are stepped correctly for ACT and CFDF clutches, On a 80 hp honda you could go too light, but not on anything with enough power to pull the skin off pudding. You will have to compensate a little in your launching technique, a little higher launch rpm will be necessary. Your shifts will be better with the engine rpm now better matching the next gear. These are SFI certified."

Thanx,

hey death thanks again dude..
but i already spoke with kane and his flywheel is for a GSX mine is a GST
apperantly front wheel drive cars have different flywheel than allwheel drive:confused:
but thanks dog thanks a bunch:thumb:

I've had a Fidenza Flywheel now for about 4 months, so far it works flawlessly and that includes a track day at Beaver Run and 1 autocross event. I plan to run the rest of the autox season, but I don't forsee any problems. Get the Fidenza, you will be glad you did

hey man thanks
how ever, is your car a daily driver?
cause i read some of the info from MachV on the fidanza flywheel wont be as stable at low rpms..such as going 5mph looking for a parking space, i think they said that the lighter flywheel has that down size.
is this true thanks man...
what other gains did you notice..horsepower, more push, ?????

THe only thing I have heard was aluminum heat up to quickly and on cars with lots of HP it made the clutch hotter than it really should have been because it was holding heat due to the aluminum construction.

ACT makes the chromoly flywheels which some guys swear by..

This is only things I have heard, I dont have personal experience with this one to back it up... Though I woudl share that anyways.

My friend just finished breaking in his new clutch a week or 2 ago, and put this flywheel in too. Having driven the car myself during break-in, I must say that I did not notice any driveability issues at all aside from being 100x EASIER to drive. It really feels extremely easy to drive, shifts are like butter, just takes no effort to drive the car compared to mine. His only problem now is keeping traction while having to launch at higher RPMs, but he is figuring out how to do that already. If you have any other questions I'm sure he'll get on here and respond.

I have a fidenza and a ACT2600 combo. IT WORKS GREAT!! you do have to have a couple of hundred higher RPM to launch.

ive had one for little over a year now.works great- but after 12k on the whole setup, i had a headgasket melt.during take down i noticed my dowel pins were missing from flywheel and friction surface looked like total hell.im stupid rough on a car(3 sets of front pads,1set of rears,1set of kumhos gone in 12k)and it always held strong so hey, other than dowels its a fine piece of equipment.

Call Fidanza and explain to them what the flywheel looks like and how many miles you have on it. They have the best customer service in the buisness

I've got an ACT2600/Fidanza combo in the car right now, and it's a daily driver. It's definitely drivable; you need to rev a little higher to take off, and you'll notice the RPMs drop off dramatically between shifts, but it just takes a little driving to get used to it. Personally, I love it.

My friend has a fidanze wheel, one of the dow pins came out when he was at the line with the 2 stage going (studderbox) the pin lodged itsalf between the edge of the flywheel and the housing and let loos a horrifying screech and the car died, then he started it back up and it ran fine... but the edge of the flywheel looked a little worse for wear afterwards.

Make sure it has the newer dowels, or sent it back to Fidanza. They will replace them for free.

ACT's are coming out soon enough, and they look real nice.

The difference between the two..is ACT balances theirs, and Fidanza's require a 2nd party balancing. :)

oh wow..this is amazing thanks guys....wow lots of great info..
i wanna cry:( .. thanks guys..
couple questions.
when you say taking off takes a couple hundred rpms...does that mean at any take off..like from traffic light to traffic light or from the green on the xmas tree to the finish lane.?
and balancing? if i was to buy the flywheel i need to take it to the machine shop and have it balanced there? and lastly i dont have to turn the fly wheel?
thanks again guys..
Oh and bout the driving issue i dont really remember what the GST felt like because i only drove it like 2000 miles before it went kaput and its been siting on the garage for like 5 months now. So when i finish my 6bolt swap i think its going to be like a new car wont be able to tell the diff in performance unless i drive a stock GST and compare that to mine.

thanks guys..this site rocks thanks...this one and 2gnt.com..
heaven is here.:thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

about the dowels,rene@buschur's has already told me to send it back to them and they would get it took care of.should have made that clear,my fault.even with the dowel thing i wouldnt want to go with anything different, the way it drives with the light flywheel and the act clutch is just the way you want it.not to grabby,no stalling, just has a sportbike free reving sorta feel, nice.as far as balancing-i took both the wheel and the pressure plate to the guys at the speedshop, they indexed the pieces and balanced them as a set.<-the only way to fly.glad to hear the 2600 works well with it as im going to be needing one of those aswell.so if youre planning on going fast, it looks like the 2600act and the fidanza are the way to go.oh btw if youre getting block work done be sure and remove the balance shafts.

hey hose101772 thanks for such great info..im actually going for the 2100 set up (..i have that on my GS and i love it) i think the 2600 would be nice but im all daily driver here. Now the new task is to find a fidanza flywheel at a resonable price and have it balaced.
BTW..yes im getting the block bored .20over and decked, as well as fitting the wiseco pistons to the 1g rods and have that balanced .Oh yes and the crank is getting polished.
thanks thanks again...:thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

I wouldn't recommend getting anything "replaceable" balanced as a set.

Each piece should be balanced individually as to when/if it comes time to replace it, you only have to re-balance the piece that was replaced, instead of the whole set.

So balance the flywheel, balance the clutch, just don't balance them both at the same time.
