3kgt throttle body

Does anybody know if a 3kgt throttle body will work on a 2g? I acquired one and the only visible difference is that a solid throttle body elbow isn't needed, just a 45* connector to run from the UICP to the throttle body.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm waiting for my UICP to try installing this but I thought that it would be good to know before it gets here so I don't pull hairs trying to get to work if it won't.

Yes it should work the install would be basically like installing and 1G n/t throttle body.

is the throttle body bigger than a 1g's? would there be any re-wiring invloved?

Good idea. I think the 2.4 Galant tb will fit too. I know it is bigger than my 1g but i dont know about a 2g. Just got to flip some hoses around and a little tinkering doesnt look too bad.

The 3kGT tb is exactly the same as a 2g only 60mm on the intake manifold side. Coming in its 65mm. I'll take some pics and put 'em up later today so you guys can see what I'm talking about....

I'm gonna try a 2.5" uic with a 45* silicon elbow to put it all together, since an elbow doesn't mount to it.

I'll have pics this afternoon on my lunch break...

so would this be better than a 1g tb? you say its 65mm on the intake side and 60 on the manifold side? and i belive the 1g is 60 straight through....would this be any better?

Not really better, its got its pro's and cons...

pro's:

1. for 2g's all of the vaccuum lines are in the same exact place going towards the drivers side, whereas on a 1g they face the passenger side.

2. it was free to me from a buddy, came with sensors....

3. don't need a throttle body elbow to connect to the uicp

con's:

1. 65mm to 60mm downsize. Not really bigger than the 1g's since the manifold side is the same as the 1g. May cause a slight restriction because of the smalle outlet, but I don't know if that will be noticeable.

2. you have to either get someone to make a custom uicp that extends to the tb and either has its own 45* bend in it or buy a 45* connector hose to connect the two.


thats all that I can really think of, I'm talkin to Dave Brode about a custom uicp, so we'll see what the deal is.

Would that be an upgrade on a 2G non-turbo? If so would you sell it?

It is a 60mm tb, I don't know what you have stock but it is bigger than my stock one (52mm), as far as selling it, not sure right now. Sorry man....

Could you have the Thottle body side bored out to 65mm or is there not enough material? I guess you would need a 65mm butterfly for that huh?
