first off: rebuilt motor 3500 miles, idle set at 1000rpm, 13-14in/hg vaccum, running webcams street grind

ever since i put the new cams on (3500 miles), i have had no driveability or idle problems. the past few days, my car has lost about 2-4 in/hg vaccum at normal idle. i turned the biss up a alittle (300rpm) to idle at 1250/1300rpm, and it went back to 13in/hg of vaccum, whereas before that would yield 15-16in/hg of vaccum. now my idle is all over, anywhere from 800rpm to 1500rpm. vaccum goes from fine to crap at varying stop lights. it is almost not driveable with the A/C on (8 or less in/hg). i checked every conceivable vaccum hose and all other hoses. the biss screw and o-ring are still in tact as well. i recently had a CEL pop up on me, which i usually pay no attention to, but this happened around the same time. autozone is a bunch of lazy SOBs and will not read my CEL, nor speak english. what else could be the cause for this vaccum/idle leak? i have fidanza cam gears, is there anyway that adjusting the cams would improve vaccum? thanks in advance :)
 
first off do the no brainer thing and get that CEL checked out. then do an intake leak test.

yeah i waited in line at the local autozone for 15-20 minutes... started looking at APC products i was so bored. the line there doesn't move. worse than a bank line. where else can i go to get the CEL checked out? if i take it to SATAN, do they charge just to scan it? i need to find someone locally that can scan CELs

and would retarding/advancing the cams produce a better, more consistant idle? i have not had a problem with them up until now, however, there has always been a slight misfire. not sure if that would help any or not
 
well i finally got the nimwits at autozone to scan it. came up PO505: 'idle air control valve' malfunctioning. i haven't opened my Haynes manual yet to see what it is, where it is, and to take a guess how much it costs. anyone have this problem before?
 
my isc went out on me a few days ago too. $400 for a new one. cant believe it costs that much just to replace that damn little motor...i know they make rebuild one's, dont remember the site though.
 
well i pulled my ISC to check it... 32ohms between all 6 plugs, so i don't know what is going on with it. she moves in and out when i click the key to "on"... maybe it isn't coming on contact and i need to make an idle adjustment? it idles OK, just inconsistant and i have a loss of vaccum

if my throttle body is spotless, ISC (32ohms) is fine, the EGR is fine and the BISS (just replaced) is fine, would that leave me with the FIAV? and how can i check it's status... also, would swapping to a 1g 91-94 TB w/ an operating FIAV solve this problem? thanks
