im looking to hold a bit more power then the 2600, so i was looking into gettig the 2900. the kits seem to only come with 4 and 6puck disks, and what what ive read they can be pretty hard on the tranny...but on act's website i read that the puck'ed disks themselves hold quite a bit more tourqe then the street disks so does anyone have an approximate number that a 2900 pressure plate with the street disk would hold?

or should i just go ahead and get a 6 puck disk?...i had a 6puck on a previous car and didnt mind it, my only worry is about putting extra strain on the tranny.

this is going on a car thats basically a track car. it will get driven on the street sometime but not all that often. just to the track or to cruise in's and stuff like that...

please dont post back saying "you dont need anymore then a 2600 blah blah blah" unless you have personal experience with a different setup running over 500hp.

thanx

I run a 2900 with a street disc. Well used to, 1300 miles and prolly 10-15 lanches. I sold my 2.0 short block to put my 2.4 in and upon removing the clutch, I was shocked to see the disc almost down to the rivets. The clutch NEVER slipped, I slip it abit out of the hole so I don't break the driveline. I got one dyno pull on a blown head gasket and put down 476. We did a 17% drivetrain loss and came up with 576 at the flywheel. After fixing the head gasket that night, went the next day and ran some shake down runs with a best of 11.01@128 Again, I slip the clutch Alot to keep breakage to a min. Clutch disc are cheap. So if your one of those dump the clutch guys, then nevermind this post.

So I think I'm still gonna use the 2900lb PP, Instead of the street disc I'm gonna use a ClutchNet 6 puck Sprung disc. Don't go with a solid hub. You will break the tranny for sure.

I high recommend Taboo's billet fork and the 1/4" longer pushrod. The longer pushrod makes my 2900 feel like the 2100 in my wifes car.

thanx for the info guys...im actually kinda leaning towards the rps with 6puck and sprung hub. it claims to hold up to 585ft/lbs (similar to the 2900 with 6puck) but has the sprung hub....i had this same rps clutch on my supra and put down 650hp and close to 600ft/lbs and never had any complaints about it.

i decided to go with the rps, ordered it today. i havent really heard of anyone running them with alot of power, so i figured ide have a go at it to see if there is life after act clutches with dsm's

my buddy just bought the rps sprung hub 6 puck and has nothing but good things to say about it. clutch pedal is lighter than a 2600 too. oh yeah he ran a 12.0 @119 too so it will hold the power:)

Is the 6 puck unsprung that bad? I was sent one by accident and didn't want to pay the restocking fee so I just put it in. Is there any thing that I should be aware of with it? Is it ab;et to be driven or is it a pain in the a$$?Thank kind of thing.Sorry about hijacking the thread I just saw it and would like to get som info since you said that you had on before.
