my greddy type s has blown to shit after 3 months of boosting 15psi. the threads on the inside of the bov where the screw screws in to are totally stripped out. i can push my screw down and it just pops back up cause the threads are stripped out on the inside of the bov. im so pissed off right now. i got my uicp from rre and there was a hole in it, i got my bov from rre and it is shit already. i also need a new throttle body so if anyone has a 2g throttle body off an eclipse they wanna get rid of let me knoe i need one badly :(

My Greddy stripped the other day also, I loosened the nut on the top and the adjustment bolt popped up and pulled the threads with it. I retapped it for now with a larger hex bolt, but will be replacing it very soon with an HKS SSQV.

a friend ran into the same prob....thats why he advised me to get the HKS. and i am damn glad i did. one less thoiing to think about.

Hmmmm... thats strange I have been using a GReddy Type-S and a RRE UICP for quite sometime now with no problems whatsoever. I think the GReddy Type-S kicks ass!

I'm glad I'm not the only one having problems with the type S. I'm getting the HKS SSBOv for really cheap so I'm changing. Anyone know where I can get a recirculation kit for cheap?

i gotta Type S that ive been runnin for almost a year, and its holdin up fine. only runnin stock boost, but no problems here, if i do i will prolly go with the HKS, but i really hope that doesnt happen because i like the sound of my Type S alot more, maybe ill try the Greddy Type R is mine goes to shit, just an idea.

i too have mixed feelings about the type s so thats why im stayin away from it.
instead of replacin your tb with another 2g, switch it to a 1g tb instead. its 60mm instead of 52mm.

Wow, I seem to have the exact opposite experience. I switched FROM a SSQ TO a Type-S and think that the Type-S is a much better valve. My HKS broke on my after about 5 months of 16psi on the T25. I also couldnt get rid of flutter with mine. I got it to the point of it being minimal, but it never went away completely. I am not Type-S and have no flutter and it is holding up agains 16psi from my 20G with no problems so far.....Just my .02

IMHO the only BOVs worth a damn are the TIALs. True they cost more than most, but they are also the best made BOVs out there.

You can goto the hardware store and get a 1/4 20 set screw and a 1/4 20 tap. You wont even have to drill it because it is very close to the same size.

Just clean out the old threads with a drill bit (the size is written on the tap) then tap it out, it will be just like new again.

It is probably from somebody trying to set the bov wrong. Greddy bov's are really good quality, if you have any problems you can also call greddy and order replacment parts.

Don't get me wrong, it worked great for a long time, and I love the sound of it as well, but I was royally pissed when it stripped. I did re-tap it with something slightly larger, but if I'm going to keep it I'll have to do it again because the bolt I used is too long and hitting my hood and now bending the bolt. I got "no money" and "mo problems." :(

Spidey get a set screw instead of a bolt. It will look almost exactly like the one that came out but it will just use a different allen wrench.

If you know what kind you tapped with you can find it easy.

Also if the harware store doesnt have it look under fastners in the yellow pages. We have about ten nuts and bolt places.

If you cant find what you need PM me with the thread pitch and I will get you one from the bolt place here.

PS put some low strength lock tite on it, it will help seal leaks and it wont have to be adjusted after you set it.
