ok guys..i have finally bought a sixbolt engine from a 90eagle talon
so far here is what i have found..
i cannot use the tbody and the intake manifold because the tbody has different sensors and the manifold is missing the map sensor (the top sensor on the 2nd gen cars)
hoever i have some more questions..
where is the oil cooler for the 90 talons/eclipse..becuase this one does not have the doughnut shape oil cooler???
the engine has 186000 miles(so i was told) what wold you guys recomend i do to it before i dropp it in my 2g(besides the timing belt stuff, balance eliminator kit, gaskets.) ?
can i get away with keeping its pistons and just replace bearings and rings ..or is that a bad idea??
btw..i plan on running 16psi..i dont ever want to hit the track and it will be just an all around daily driver.
thanks

REBUILD! REBUILD! REBUILD! You won't regret it. You could go with some wiseco 8.5 pistons. There are many more options besides those. If you don't wanna do pistons, you should do the rings and valves seals because the motor has most likely seen its better days. You should use the 1G intake manny just get a map sensor. You should however use the 2G throttle body for simplicity. I got a 6 bolt in my 96 GST and its coming out really soon and getting replaced by another "built" one.

agent ezzard thanks man..
see the point is money is the issue here..i wish i wish i could get all forged internals but im not bloody rich.
i think i could get new pistons, rings, seals, all gaskets, timing belt shitzu, seals(all of them), balance shaft kit removal, clutch kit with oem flywheel, maybe valve springs.
about the intake and the tbody..my uncle from cali sent me a tbody from a 92 eclipse(60mm w/sensors) right after my timing belt slipped.
so i think i will use that and port my 2g manifold..or could i modify, somehow the 90 engine to take the map sensor from my 2g..if so will this be worth the work..thanks guys..
thanks a bunch..
bythe way agent did you run on the 14b or the t25 or something bigger. i iwill unfortunately run the t25,since the engine didnt come withe the turbo, .......it should work fine with the six bolt set up right.even with the stock pistons, i mean the turbo lag should be increased but other than that it sould be ok ..right ..right???:(

With the six bolt i got right now I'm using the T25. The built one I have coming is gonna have a 50 trim on it. I'm not bloody rich either but when you're making 40 grand a year and have no bills you can do things like purchase big turbos.

P.S. I am on active duty with the national guard so "ching!!! ching!!!"

My orders will end one day but thats six months from now.

cool..any other problems when putting the six bolt..
..i make roughly 30 grand and i have tons of bills..
and two cars..its a pain but i got my entire life to pay for them..

should i replace the valve train??
or just the bottom end..thanks

Is it true that 2G pistons are built stronger than the 1G's?

They are both cast so as for the strength I would have to say that they are somewhat the same. Another thing that'll affect strength is the actual metal that they were cast from. I dunno if Mitsu changed their standards with the 8.5 compression, 7 bolt motors. The reason why they are so popular for the moderate performance enthusiast is because of the higher compression and the relative low price at which they can be had.

Well the reason I ask is because, I decided to stay with a stock 6-bolt block but I had work done on my head. I was recently at a performance shop getting the car tuned, and the tuner stated that 1g pistons are weaker in strength.

oh really..so then damm it my chilton manual is messed up ..it says that 90-94 are 9.0:1 and 95-99 are 8.5:1..
so i guess im going to stay with the stock and maybe see if ican do forged pistons.
Alson ..is .020 a good overbore?
(i already have the engine taken apart and the stock pistons look ok but i dont want to do it again so ill get new pistons)
thanks guys thank you so much..i have no idea where would i be without your help.:thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
The 2g pistons are 8.5's and he 1g pistons are 7.8's so the 2g's are HIGHER than the 1g's. Many people do use 2g pistons with their 6 bolt. Its up to you if you want to get the machine work done

ok thanks
here is what i have decided upon all the research and help from you guys.
will go for the wiseco pistons .020 overbore...comp will be 7.8:1 or as close to it as posible ( i will have to check on that)
by the way summit has wiseco at a pretty good price
i think 361 with rings..
so i guess will see
thanks again guys:dsm: :thumb:
