not sure how but heres the scenario:
I have a stage three shortblock from buschur with crower rods and je pistons, full air intake, built top end (port polish 3angle valve job) balance shaft eliminator turbo xs h-rfl bov da da da ....
anywho I put on a hallman bc last night figuring I'd get like 14-16 psi (was getting 10) but mcuh to my amazment the autometer bosst gauge said 25 psi --turned it down and hit 20 psi/then 16-17psi now---the setup for the engine alone is suppose to be good for up to 600-660 hp----on stock turbo and stock intercooler-------now my question is how the heck did this happen????? from what I've gathered given stock turbo and ic and fuel system the car should only make 14-16 with spikes of 18-19 max-right? could this be because of the engine? there is a huge difference in the perfomance of the car-HUGE-anyone got an idea??

let me make a correction its of course not seeing that much hp with stock turbo and i/c---it has them on there ---for now----but its still making alot of boost and I am thinking that it is just becasue of the specs of the engine--of course I turned it down to 14 psi so I dont smoke the turbo--but does anyone have any thoughts

I was figuring that anything over 18 wasnt doing any good but i had jsut never heard of it getting that high--thanks

BlackDSM97: Your post is difficult to read at best. Your motor should be making a lot more power and flow a lot more air then a stock motor so that is probably the difference in power that you are seeing. Running too much boost on even a stock turbo will melt one of your brand new forged pistons be careful. A built motor does not change the laws of thermodynamics you can't run bit boost with your t-too small.

engines built to hanle 30-32 psi with no probs(track run) and 22-24 daily drivin but I plan on keepin it at 16--the t3 t4 will be in soon along with the fmic and a few other "goodies":D

Say what??

Either I've suddenly become retarded and cannot understand what you're saying here, or a crack pipe came with this setup.

Keep in mind, those above figures are on race gas, with a proper state of tune (expert) and every single supporting mod you can imagine. Please, for the love of God, research things before posting improperly worded and unknowledgeable questions.

it was a pretty simple question---and on the race gas ---DUH!--Im not an idiot or an amatur to dsm performance---I was just trying to see about the amount of boost from a t25---I already figured it would do no good over 16psi, but was tuning the boost controller and and got 25---needless to say I was a little amazed at that number. So next time dont attempt to insult someone asking a simple question. Make sense? Oh and the turbo and I/c are the only things left to replace

had crankwalk-so I had the motor built and modified so that it wont happen again--1st gen squiters, highly modded cradle, a bit here and a bit there

I'm going to disagree with that....

In one of my stupider moments years ago.... I disconnected the line to the wastegate at the track to make a pass on the T25.... had some race gas in there and I wasn't too concerned.

Highest it went was 22psi

hmm. maybe i was thinking of a 16g where it hit 40 psi
if you throw enough air at a turbo, such as the t-25, it will keep increasing the psi till it pretty much blows itself apart.

think of it as an electric motor. the more voltage you give it, the faster it spins.

Well, there is a problem with that line of thinking.

Reistance.... and flow characteristics.

It is physically impossible for a T25 to spin fast enough to support 40psi.... the turbo would explode prior to hitting 40psi

Inline with thinking about an eletric motor...... it will have a limit, up untill it explodes.... reguardless of the voltage that you supply, at one point it will die :D
