Sup guys, installed it monday, but I didn't want to write a review so quick as it wasn't broken in yet(it is STILL picking up a little more sound each drive).
I got a steal on this at $400 from wholehyper.com, whom were very easy to order through, but could've shipped it a bit earlier. They also helped me out and let me paypal them(which is probably the cause for later shipment) because I lost my damn ATM/Visa check-card somehow that day when I was planning to order.
On arrival, the 80mm piping was quite large looking, I was thinking I may have problems with it dragging but that hasn't been the case at all so far. On inspection, the MIG welds are top-notch as expected, the muffler is just a beaut, and the inner diameter of it is as large as the piping.
Taking off the old 2.5" HKS cat-back was easier than I expected, the only hard part was the o2 sensor which we ended up cutting and will have to rewire eventually, but PB Blaster helped quite a bit with everything. The other hard part was taking the rear section off, which goes up over the suspension and the flange just didn't want to squeeze out from there, but it did eventually. Installing the new exhaust was a breeze, it uses all the factory hangers with rods that simply slip through them, and it actually feels like it's on there tighter than the HKS that bolted to the hangers.
Once installed, my friend Wes and I cruised for a bit and I was loving every minute of it. The gas pedal seems much more responsive, and it seems a bit of mid-range torque was picked up. Somehow the car also bucks LESS with the BOV vented, but the gas pedal is definately more responsive when accelerating as well as letting off. Sound-wise, I haven't heard many turbo cars or just DSMs in general that sound like this, if you decelerate from 3-4k it is very loud, the only thing I can compare it to is one of the various exhaust systems for the Supra, but obviously not the same kind of noise. Under acceleration again, it wasn't loud at first, but as it breaks in it is getting louder, and it has a very unique hum around 4k. Idle is deep and rumbly, you can really feel it standing behind the car as well as sitting in it. Backfires from venting are twice as loud now(at least!), and actually last night I had a fun experience, I'm sitting there because cops were directing traffic out of a HS football game or something, and when it's our turn to go, I gently accelerate through 1st, shift to 2nd, and BANG, backfire about 10ft. from the cop standing there, and of course his neck broke instantly
All in all, I am extremely happy with this exhaust, it does have a neckdown at the cat to 2.5" which is only about 2-3" long, but I'm still running a stock downpipe AND a cat right now, not for long though. Definately the best $400 I've ever spent, and Wes said it's the best $400 he's seen spent, so I don't think you can go wrong with this cat-back, it's awesome.
10/10 for sure. Now onto the pics...
Came quite nicely packaged:
