alright i have a fmic that i bought without piping and i know your going to say get a piping kit from dejontool or vp but neither site will sell me a kit that will fit without modifications..heres my ponder,i dont want to buy a kit for 300 dollars and have to "mod" it..if im going to have to modify it then i might as well save my money and do a homemade piping job myself..but then again its not going to be easy to do that..i dont have a bender,i can get someone to bend pipes for me but then i have to deal with flanges and what-not..

heres my options,
buy a kit
pros-all flanges are done and most of the work is done
cons-expensive,will still have to modify it to make it work

or,make my own
pros-itll be alot cheaper and i know itll work out since ill be doing the modifying myself
cons-alot more work,no flanges, everything will have to be fabricated and welded

so what should i do?..have you guys made your own?..how hard is it..this fmic has been sitting here for 2 months now and i just want it to be installed..thanx for the help guys..

:)

The only flange you need welded on is a throttle body flange. Other than that all you need to do is buy some mandrel bends, (from Summit or where ever) clamps, and couplings. If you want you could take it some where and get the ends of the pipe beaded. Just cut the bends you need and put it together with couplings. If you want less couplings then weld some of the connections.

I would think you would be able to build your own kit for less than $300. Plus like you said it would save you the trouble of having to modify just to make it fit.

No need to buy it from Summit Twenty. I already have it all at my store for just that purpose plus I have some stuff lying around the garage. At the store I have 2.5 mandrell bent 45's, 90's, and 180's. It is a time consuming process so it doesn't look half-assed. I got the welder too. I extend my help to anyone else in the area too.

NO FAIR. I wish there was somebody in my area who had mandrel bent pipes in stock.

i feel your pain too. Ebay is next best thing.

my upper ic piping is made out of pvc. it works and was cheap. cant tell either cuz its wrapped in heat wrap. no hk$ and greedy here.

I made my own, they turned out pretty well. I'll compensate a little more for ABS on my next set but other than that it holds well and cost about 125.00 for everything I needed with silicone couplers and heavy duty clamps. Then when all was said and done I powdercoated them. There are more pics in my profile.

My piping was homemade/aftermarket.

I might have been made in someones garage but you cant tell the difference.

here here. I built my own FMIC piping with mild steel mandrel bends. I did all the sizing, cutting, and welding myself. I then took them to get powdercoated and they look just like a Dejon pipe.

Thanks for the compliment,

Yes, the intake pipe was my design as well. I relocated the BOV dump tube closer to the filter for a little sound and to make an attempt at reducing turbulence before it reaches the turbo. I moved the flange for the BOV next to the ABS system so it was a direct shot through a steel tube to the intake. The whole turbulence thing is totally unproven, I don't have a flowbench or any real proof that it works. The pipe was made out of mandrel bent aluminized exhuast pipe. Powdercoated inside an out for that honed look and texture. I only used aluminized because I knew it was going to be powdercoated. If you don't plan on doing that use stainless, and TIG it.

John,
Your setup looks killer. I like the BOV recirculation with the SSQV, does it sound vented? Awesome job.
