full garret vs. bolt on t3/4

I've been researching t3/4 setups for months now and I know there are alot of threads but I thought we could get it all in on one thread. My question: Is a full garret t3/4 setup w/ new exhaust manifold and o2 housing really that much better than a bolt on t3/4? I'm going to be buying a new turbo soon and I'd like to know if the extra $700 or more is worth it. Anybody have an solid dyno results or slips? Thanks

The turbos that I was heavily looking into was the AGP t3/4 kit (50 trim - $1725) or the PTE Bolt-on t3/4 (50 trim - $995)

I want to make as much power as I can on pump.
 
1G or 2G? Mods? There is more to it than just "which is better". INtheory, the Garrett setup, in any trim, should be capeable of more HP. But many people ahve gone extremely fast on bolt on turbos. Ney bolt ons offered, like PTE's have completely revolutised the market for bolt ons. They are really hard to pass up.
 
If money is not an issue get full Garret. Other than that save a little money.

And like I said, I want as much pump gas power as I can. I'm not sure exactly how much more performance the full garett setup will offer over the bolt on and I wonder if its worth it. I've looked around and haven't seen too many time slips or anything.
 
You can get great performance out of both bolt ons and full t3/t4 kits but in theory you should make a little bit more power with the full kit. Wether or not its worth the extra $$ to you or not is up to you.

BTW there is no such thing as a bolt on t3/t4. There are bolt on kits that containt garrett wheels and there are turbos that use the t04 series compressor housings but not t3 style exhaust housings. :)
 
Although I have seen an adapter that goes from a Mitsu manifold to the garrett flange. I would think it would hinder flow a little because of the quick transition but you would be able to bolt a true t3/t4 to the mitsu manifold.
 
I just went 11.95@121mph on the t3/to4e 50 trim stage 3 at 3000ft and 26lbs of boost, and I'm FWD, full garret setup with a turbonetics manifold and the whole nine yards, mods are in my profile.

My impressions about full garret setup? I will never look back to anything else, this is by far the best setup I have played with.

Corrected sea level time on that pass is 11.54@126mph, and I'm still using the bone stock ECU, stock rev limiter, 2gmaf, AFC, bigger injector combo and no nitrous (yet LOL)

The PTE style turbo IS a Garrett turbo with Mitsubishi flanges at the turbine inlet and turbine outlet. The rest is all Garrett. What this means is you can mix and match wheels and housing to find what works for you just like the T3/T4 hybrid we all know as the "full Garrett"

The one advantage a "full Garrett" kit MIGHT have is the stock exhaust manifold more than likely will be replaced with a nicely designed tubular unit. I personally think you can port the stock Mitsubishi manifold into a well flowign piece. It's not like there isn't anyone running mid 9's off the juice with a stock Mitsubishi exhaust manifold. :thumb:
