Got a question about my friends 95 eclipse GS-T.
The car has been running quarter mile times of 14.2 at a trap speed of 102MPH. That seems to me a rather high trap speed for such high times, shouldn't the times for such a trap speed be around the low 13's???
The car has the following mods:
Big 16G
Walbro 255 fuel pump
15 PSI boost
3" exhaust
Removed balance shafts
+supporting mods
It's strange because the car used to run 14.3 - 14.4 at 93-95MPH before the balance shaft removal and the 255 fuel pump.
Any ideas???
Thanx

102 in FWD is not good for low 13s. I actually went 14.18 @ 103.92 in my old GST. Though with a 16G your friend should also be trapping alot higher then that in a FWD if the car is running correctly with the right supporting mods.

I ran 13.1 @ 99 in my VR6 so this is not true. You can run that trap speed and a low ET if you can get your car out of the bucket. I generally ran 13.1 at around 104mph but did do it as low in as 99 when I came outta the hole really hard once.

If you can pull 1.8 60ft's FWD then you can run those times. It just takes slicks and some practice. I did it with a VW which is much worse for traction than just about any other FWD car.

Yes you are definitely correct. But for the majority, Id say 99% of FWD owners you are not going to run low 13s with that trap. Slicks do help though :)

I think we should stick to real 60ft times that a FWD is capable of when talking about this. Slicks are a totally different variable. Your normal FWD is going to put down a 2.2-2.4 60ft. You're really much better off than you think you are. If you think that's bad, one of my good friends just got done running a 14.6@104. Talk about a no drivin' fool.

I ran 13.6 @102 with my 97 gs-t so those times do sound a bit low. My 60' was a 2.2 and I was also on the factory clutch wich slowed me down some to because it just couldn't hold on in the higher gears. With 102 traps I would say you should run at least 13.9 or better with decent driving. Let's see that short time though because that could be the reason for the 14.2

Buh thats high, I don't care if you have FWD or not. I have FWD and I run 14.6 at 93 miles. with just an UIP and 1G Bov, oh and hard pipe, on H rated tires. Maybe crappy driving? Just a thought.
