What are the differences in upgrade turbos? What can the stock turbo handle?

I have two questions. 1. It seems like many people upgrade their turbos. Is this because the stock turbo can't handle for psi or hp?

What psi can the stock one produce? I am only looking for around 300+ so if the stock one can handle this then why do so many upgrade? do I need to?

If I upgrade what are the differences between the 20g, 16g, Big t28, and the big t28 killer?

What would you recommend for a stage one mod(tuning guide). I am looking for 300+ with stock intercooler.

Thanks

Your questions are very vague. Everything you have asked can be answered with a trip to the Tuning Guide.

I have visitited the tuners guide and it promted this post. My main question is if you are doing the stage 1 mods why do you need to replace the turbo?

All the other mods make since. The electronical things allow you to stretch the performance out of your tuned engine. The airflow mods increase airflow and also performance.

But why replace the turbo? Are these upgraded ones necessary? Couldn't you do all the listed mods except the turbo and run 300+ hp?

How much psi can the stock turbo generate?

What does the upgrade turbo gain you?

Well my first question to you is what car do you have? Your profile lists a 95 non turbo. So when you say stock turbo I dont know what your referring to.

If its a 2nd gen the T25 is only good to about 225whp or so. It is efficient to about 15psi though you can still make a lil more power at 20psi but youll be killing the turbo.
