I just installed a Supra TT fuel pump and a Buschur AFPR. Works great, but the pump overflows the stock return line.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows where the restriction is in that line.

I'm hoping I don't have to drill a new bulkhead fitting on the fuel pump assembly. :(

I know all I am doing is pointing you in a different direction, but this guy(according to the web-site) Upgraded both the sending and the return line for the fuel system. he used 6an lines thru out the whole system.

under the "how to install and upgrade the fuel system". he has a complete parts list at the bottom of the page, and an e-mail address to ask him questions at.

P.S.....i don't want to be a pest but what is the part number off of the TT Fuel Pump and screen. I can't find them anywhere, and were did you get yours from? Is it as quiet as everyone says it is?

you should be able to search for "supra fuel pump" and find a site that sells them for about 180. i can't remember the site and don't feel like looking.

as for overflowing the return line, do you have an afpr or stock? if its stock, then that's your problem. install the fpr and run the AN line to the stock hardline. even if you replaced the line all the way back to the pump, the nipple on the pump is the same size as the line, so its kinda pointless.

They have the part numbers, and the good price, I got mine from them. Its pretty darn quiet. With the stereo off or very low, I can just barely hear it. And even then the only time you notice it is when the pump noise changes, like if you have your blinkers on or something.

I've never understood why anyone replaced the return line. I thought about doing this when I did my AN lines and then I looked at my Aeromotive regulator and noticed that the return port is about the size of a pin hole. If its good for 1000hp, then I don't think there can be any restriction in the return line.

Unfortunately, this is wrong. I found out the answer to the question I posed in the first post.

It is simply the metal return line on the 2Gs is smaller than the one on the 1G cars. My rewired Supra pump was overflowing that small line. Fortunately, the fix is simple. I ran a 3/16" rubber hose from the output of my Buschur/Aeromotive AFPR to the return fitting on the fuel tank. Voila. Problem solved. Now the return line can flow enough fuel. $6 worth of return line and 2 small line clamps.

2G Owners take note.

The Supra pump is quiet and works well. The only problem I had was the thing was so big, I wasn't able to plug the fuel level sender back in, so my fuel gauge doesn't work. No big deal. I guesstimate with the odometer. :thumb:
