well in a short while i will be partaking in this adventure, just for the hell of it. i ordered some bends to give me an idea of what i should order when it comes time to start the manifold. the bends are 1.9" od and 1.5" id, nice and thick, is that a good size to be using? it sounded good to me, but a manifold is something i haven't done before. i ordered 1 bend in each clr i could find, 2.5", 3", 4", 5", 6", and 9". i'll order the flanges from rre.

this won't be particularly fancy, i don't have a phd in manifold design or anything. i'm not going to mess with turbo placement, it will be the same as my turbonetics manifold. any advice or suggestions?

Get a gym membership, that's gonna be one heavy manifold :D

1.5" ID should work well.

You may want to try moving the turbo away from the head a bit, you'll have to redo the turbine outlet, but it'll make the manifold way easier to build.
