i'm not to familiar with the 18g turbo, im wondering if anyone can tell me a lil info about it what type of horsepower does this put out, is it a direct bolt on to a 97 GSX, will i have to change the exhust manifold. how are they on spool up time is it quick or is it slower. how much if any are they better than a 16g. thank u

i have one they suck 11s are reachable but with crazy tuning i personally had a built whole motor had trouble running 12s

It will feel very similar to a Big16g IMO. They are not worth the price and are not as efficient as a 16g. If you want to spend that money then just through down 50$ and et a true 20g or just get a td05 20g...both will smack a 18g all over the place;)

16g/20g>18g

they suck. trust me. get a 20g. little more money and work but WELL worth it.

They are kinda cheap there.
Gonna get one soon

whatever you guys do, DO NOT buy a hahn 20g turbo!!!!!!!!!! get a normal 20g from some other vendor. preferable externally gated

The 18g is very similar to the tdo5 20g. I have run a best of 11.8 with my 18g and have beat a few 20g cars. It spools just as fast as a 16g. Its not worth is price though i do agree. Only reason i have it is cause i got it really cheap. If you have a fmic don't even bother go wit teh 20g. But if your on smic or supra or alamo sidemount its not bad at all.

My 18g hits 19psi by 3300rpm and pulls to redline. Turbo is good for up to 350hp if you have the supporting mods and good tuning. If you look at the CFM and inducer exducer measurments you'll see that its right in between the big16 and 20g, but a little closer to the 20g. The way I think of it is you get 20g type of power with the quick big16 spool up.
Don't listen to the people that bad mouth this turbo, most guys have never used the turbo.

Forget the 18g and the 20g. Go with a hybrid turbo like the FP Green and you'll be trying to build the car to keep up with the potential of the turbo. They're still steetable but you'd better believe they are track worthy. A friend of mine runs mid 11's on his FP Green and holds 26psi all day. This is a full interior steet car too.

Everyones spool up time is different. Based on exhaust and all other things. Full boost <3500 IMO is excellent. If you 2g guys were talking about the Greddy 18g that turbo is garbage from what I hear. 18g Is great for maintaining stock look. Jeff Hill <TurboTrix> recommened it for excellent street power. And you only need 550's with it unlike most turbos bigger than it.

I have a Hahn Super 20G and the product is excellent. I do however have my own personal issues with their customer support. I would reccomend the Super 20G to anyone. Spools reasonably good (before 4000) and it has AWESOME TOP END.

I think all you people who jump on the "Hahns 20G Sucks" band wagon should actually use your brains. It is PROVEN that a larger turbine housing makes power! Tons of power in many cases at the expense of spool time. Well the Super 20G spools well before 4000 on a 170K STOCK 1G motor, so if thats livable spool characteristics for you then the turbo is a BETTER choice then a turbo with expensive port job to NOT ACHEIVE AS GOOD A FLOWING TURBINE HOUSING!!

I wish people would pull their heads outta their asses!

I personally had mixed feelings about the 18G, mine was clipped 7 degrees, I ran a best of 12.10 @ 18 pounds of boost, shit load of knock, and this was its first time at the track with the VPC breathing thru stock mass air. I kind of thought the turbo was quite disappointing for quarter mile passes, it really felt like it had no balls, however on highway runs, it pulled like a brute. Now I bet if I had more runs that day to at least shape it into tune, the car would of pulled into 11's with that turbo without a problem, ends up the guys I went with assumed it was a test N tune day, ends up being brackets :( Now this turbo was a few years old, I went with it at the time because my 14b wasnt in its best days, I wanted a bolt on affair and the 18G was it. I know that I liked it and thats all that mattered. I personally have been in cars with moderatly clipped 20G chargers, you wont notice the difference between the 18G vs. 20G, unless the 20 is packing an aggresive clip.

I would just like to mention, take what you hear with a grain of salt, alot of people dont know shit about the 18G exept for the negativity surrounding it, most people havnt even seen a compressor map for this but yet they still talk.

Im done.
See ya,
Storm

Austin,
I just came across this thread in a search and was wondering if you could maybe explain this a little bit more. I'm still in my seemingly never-ending turbo upgrade search-- and close to 20G power with closer to 16G spool sounds pretty good to me.
