I inherited the car with 9.5:1 pistons in it already and I don't want to rip apart the block to put in 8.5:1's but I don't know what direction to go as far as gaining more power since I can't run alot of boost.

My setup is basically:
RC550's
HKS Cams
evo 16g
190lp fuel pump
S-AFC
I/C piping
3' exhaust system
FMIC soon

Please post your set ups or advice. Thanks

You may no be able to run as hig of boost with the 9:5 but you have more overall motor power so it kind of offsets. depending on the octane of gas you have avaiable you should be able to tune fairly well.

Highest possible octane, lots of fuel, get a hell of a good FMIC, and keep the boost low. Thats really all you can do. Oh, and get a datalogger. With the same fuel setup as you, i can only go to 14-16psi on my 9:1 pistons. I can only imagine what 9.5:1 would be like.

Good luck, dont blow it up. ;)

92' octane, 9:1 compression, stock boost. Any problems? Need to rebuild the motor but I'm on a tight budget for a mounth. Will get 720's before my break-in is up so I won't be racing on 440's. Will my motor blow sky high or should I wait for the big injectors.

If you want to be like all the big dawgs then Go with the 9:1 but your going to be fighting knock alot on the street if you use pump gas. Unless it just a fun car then I would go with that setup. But there are lots of guys running 8:5 and are happy.

Strange. I am running 9:1's on 93 pump at 20 psi without any issues. :D

I don't own 9:1 But the fact are the higher the ratio the more chance of knock. That why turbo car have 8:5 vs. a honda's that push more like 11:1. but that because they don't have turbos. ;)

say what kind of compression numbers is everyone at.my 9.0 setup grenaded little while back.the engine had been apart before i got it and the head must have been milled tons.the valves were the lowest point on head surface.before headgasket went i check compression it was showing 200lbs on all 4 cyl.running 16thou top ring gaps.seemed abit high.anyway wondering how far off it was.
