guys, just got me an hks SSQV today for cheap, around $90:D it also came of an auto eclipse 95-96, guy said that he had been running it for 1000 miles with no problem whatsoever until he got his greddy type s and offered to sell it to me for cheap.

Well just mounted it today in the car show and fired the car up, reved it to around 4000 and heard the whoosh upon release of the gas and ideal fell back to normal ok.

I know and have searched that non recirc bovs will make a car idle like crap and run like crap, but so far all cases were on manual cars, I was wondering maybe automatics are immune to this since boost is not vented during shifts but upon release of the gas pedal causing the throttle body to fully close thus makign the manifold fall back to vacuum, so doesn't really matter if there is boost or not since the throttle plate is shut anyway.

Well haven't taken the car out yet since the car show ends monday, he did say that if I don't like it I can return it.

any thoughts?

Your car's idle should not be affected by venting to atmosphere, and you will run rich between shifts. Essentially, this should apply to both manual and automatic vehicles. While your automatic shifts, your bov is venting back to the intake, regardless if your pedal is "to the metal".

I have a HKS SSQV on an auto too. I have some problems with venting, Ive actually had the car stall on me a few times and my car does idle like crap sometimes too. I do like to bov but sometimes I wish I would have gotten a type s.

Dont be suprised if your car runs like crap when venting. Mine idled nice and had a great sound. Once driving, in between shifts it would bog and then shoot forward in the next gear, so i went back to recirculation.

Your car will Idle rough if you have a blow off valve that is open during idle, and it is not recirculated.

Now you have an HKS SSQV, it stays closed during idle, so your car runs ok. The HKS SSQV is not run off of vaccuum, it senses vaccuum and pressure change, it will open when it feels a drastic change, but then closes back up afterwards.

The stock blow off valves will just stay open causeing them to leak air to the atmosphere if the recirc tube isn't on, which releases air that was just metered by the MAF, but doesn't enter the cylinders, causing the weird idle.

If you are having troubles idling with the HKS SSQV without the recirc on, just tighten up the bolt on the back. it will tighten the spring in the BOV, and the valve will close during idle.
