Who's running a High Flow 3" CAT?

I just put my 3" downpipe on, and I don't like the way my exhaust sounds anymore. I can't find a 3" Resonator to put in my exhaust to quite it down some and make it more mellow.

Who's running a 3" cat? Did it help any? Anyone run there exhaust without and cat and then put on a 3" cat, and if you did could you tell me if there were any real noticable changes in performance.

I'm thinking of just putting on the high flow 3" Cat just to make my exhaust sound a little better (plus I will be legal again). But if its going to hurt my performance much then I will have to figure out something else.

Forget a 3 inch hi flo cat. They're worthless unless you want/need one--in California. I have a 2.5 inch testpipe and it was a huge gain in spoolup time, exhaust tone

If you're running a straight pipe (no cat), a cat will quiet down the car a bit. But the fact that it's all 3" is also what adds to the noise level.

Well I am looking at a cheap glasspack muffler to put in my exhaust system, just to kind of act like a resonator, kind of like how the Grddy and Apexi Catback systems are set up.

Anyone know where I can get a 3" glasspack muffler thats not louvered, I want one of the ones with just the holes drilled in it, not the louvered restrictive ones.

I did notice a nice jump in performance, but its just kind of nasty sounding now.

i have a 3" carsound cat in my car and 2 12" long dynomax bullett mufflers, along with a dynomax ultraflo muffler. enough flow for anything, and nice and quiet. they also make 18" long dynomax bullets, i have one if you want it. link to just what you're looking for. if you want the 18" long one i have, send me a pm. its brand new.

Putting a 3" cat on my turbo SE-R after 12psi (About 275whp) absolutely killed performance, spool everything. I promtly removed it...after I turned the boost up to 24psi and turned the cat into a piece of molten slag.

There are TONS of resonators you can use. Any good exhaust shop will have a walker (makers of dynomax and others) catalog you can page through. Summit racing also should have a bunch listed on their site. I believe Borla and Edelbrock just came out with some nice 4" round mufflers also.

I run a 3" catco in my set up- I'm a very unlucky person and I felt that if I put a 3" test pipe on my car then I some how would have gotten busted for it, Plus I'm kinda a treehugger some times so I felt I would make my self a hypocrite if I didn't. When I got it I did some very very scientific testing on it(ie* blowing through it with my mouth ) and it didn't seem restrictive at all. My exaust is still loud, but its quiter than my friends 97gsx with a test pipe. I can't tell you if my car is any slower with it, beacuse I've never run with a test pipe.

I am also running a 3inch catco. Since I have gotten my 3inch I haven't used a test pipe. I might try and build a test pipe to see if it makes a difference.
