Hey guys, help me out here. This may sound dumb, but how do you take the exhaust mani off? I know the four bolts on the top and the two on the side are easy to get to but how exactly do you get to the three bolts on the buttom of the mani. Do you come from under or the top through the three opening right above the bolt, or with an extention from the front where the turbo is? Any info. will be helpful.

i used an extention and my impact or ratchet to get all of the bolts off...make sure to soak the bolts in wd40 the night before you take them off..spray the shit out of them..i didnt break any studs because of this...

You can get all but the very center bottom one with extensions. You would never need an impact wrench fo a bolt that small, maybe for taking off the downpipe bolts if they have been stuck on there for 10 years,

If the bolt head is smaller than 1/2 an inch dont use an impact on it.

The middle one is easy just use a regular wrench with a 12 point box end.

I think stock they are 14mm or 12mm's.

Mine were all 13's with lock washers fromt he previous owner.

i used a wrench and very slowly (so i didnt break studs) worked the nuts back and forth. use lots of penetrating oil.

Mike

PS i think its 12mm. Don't remember for sure though.

Thanks a lot guys, you all are really helpful. Just got done helping my cuz with his turbo kit for his celica and my is up next this weekend.

Well, you have to take the turbo off manifold anyways since it won't sit too well just on a downpipe and might bend some oil water lines so take turbo/o2 housing off first and then exhaust mani is a piece of cake.
