I'm going to replace my valve seals, and have never done that, it looks semi-easy after reading the VFAQ on it, but I'm trying to do the job without removing the head.. everyone tells me to remove the head so it will be easier, but removing the head, messing with timing and all the other crap doesn't sound easy as just replacing the valve stem seals themselves,.. and the valve compressor tool, I'm hoping to rent one.. can this be used without removing the block? I know there are various tools, can anyone suggest a certain tool to make life easier?

It's just kind of cornfusing to me, after reading the VFAQ, because they make adjustments to the tool, they use some kind of "bar" to remove the block or something, and they also use the "rope method",

I just want the easiest way to replace the valve seals,.. preferably without removing the block.. thanks for any info..

I've replaced them on a shelby cobra and they sell a tool that hooks to an air compressor that makes it really nice. Its like a spark plug and you screw it in add pressure and then can lossend your valves without worrying about them falling into the cyclender.

I would think the difference between our head and the heads of a Cobra would have a significant effect on using that tool, to remove the valve springs, if I'm understanding you right. If I were you I would try to find someone who has a tool made specifically for this sized head and barrow that from him. It's not difficult, just time consuming.

did you get this tool and did it work with the head on the car? How hard was it to do? Thinking about buying it. Thanks

Well since the cams push the valves you will have to remove the cams, presurize the clyinders with air and then compress the springs. And in order to do that you will have to remove the side belt cover and release the tension on the belt.

No, I didn't buy the tool. I wound up removing cams, belt and head. took it to a machine shop and had them port and polish, resurface valves, and put it all back together. When I got it back, all I had to do was put head back on and belt, etc.
but since then, I've sold the car
