to start my car is a 1995 tsi. i just purchased a set of fidanza cam gears and was looking at my intake cam on my car and it has a strange plate attached to it that is part of the cam sensor. i havent gotten the cam gears yet but was wondering if i cant use them with my engien or is they coem with hole in them to mount the cam sensor plate? someone please let me know.:thumb:

You have a 95' that means that the cam angle sensor is bolted to the drivers side of the head. As far as I know the fidanza cam gears are only made for 90-94 and 97-99 model cars. You would need to adapt a 1G cam angle sensor your intake cam in order to use the cam gears.

Now why you would want to get cam gears before you get cams I don't know.

If you still want to use the cam gears you'll have to do this... http://www.roadraceengineering.com/1gcasin2g.htm

I can't imagine you would get any noticeable gains from them though until you put some cams in, then take it to the dyno and degree them for the best power potential.

i do have cams. crower stage 3. i was reading that i need to tweek the timming alittle to compensate for the cams

I belive so, I'm not 100% positive but there does'nt seem to be any logical reason why it would'nt be the same.

I can see why you are getting cam gears, i've always heard that crowers cams can cause poor idle, I know the HKS 264/272 combo works real well. Anyhow to late for that.

You mite want to browse over this http://www.cranecams.com/instructions/degreeing/degree.htm The exhaust cams make peak power on DSMs with a little retard in them so start with that first. Only move it + or - 2* at a time.
Also if you use the TDC method remember that the factory wristpins are offset ~3mm to the exhaust side. You will be ~1* off if you don't take that into account. Good luck I hope that helps.

i got the gears and they do have little hole for that cam plate to bolt to. i was thankfull for that. thats for all the help guys.
