Looking good . I have a Walbro 400 in mine with two 8AN bungs welded on top for the feed and return.

It'll be powdercoated before going back in the car.

I haven't put it back in the tank yet but for the feed I was going to use an 8AN Male/Female Swivel 90 Degree Tube Type fitting and on the return I was going to use an 8AN Female/Female 90 Degree Tube Type fitting along with an 8AN Male 90 Degree Elbow like you have on the feed line. I'm going to be using a STM FUEL TANK TO RAIL KIT and I've been using a STM Fuel Return kit. It'll be merged with a Magnus Fuel Rail I purchased during their Black Friday sale. From what I remember the whole assembly itself sits deep beneath the cover plate which should allow plenty of room for the AN fittings to clear.

Before I had this modification done I was using this Walbro 400 with no issues. I see why you're concerned about the fittings on top not clearing as your bung sits just a little bit taller than mine. I think you should be fine though.

It does look like my pump sits a bit higher, hmmm. I just looked at the Walbro 255 that was previously in there and it's pretty much the same height. Did you alter your assembly at all? If you didn't the only explanation I can think of is that the 450 is taller than the 400 but I believe I remember reading from Walbro that the pumps were the same size.

If you look at the 2nd pic you'll see the barb welded to the 8an bung. That barb hangs below the top of the hanger and is what the hose the connects to the pump connects to. The stock piece is gone so there's nothing for the nipple of the fuel pump to go up into.

Ahhh yes I see what you're talking about now. You completely removed the stock feed hardline from under the assembly replacing it with the nozzle fitting as that is what I didn't have done to mine. That definitely looks like why yours is taller than mine and a concern of the assembly itself sitting deeper in the tank. I also confirmed that the 450 and the 400 are the same size.

Is it safe to assume you're installing this in the 1G you have listed below your avatar? If so I can't tell you yes or no as I'm not familiar with a 1G fuel pump assembly.

I can actually get the "L" shaped bracket on there now. No rubber between of course. I think I might be ok on clearance now. I'll just use clamps to hold the pump to the vertical piece of metal.

Yeah if you can get that "L" shaped bracket on the bottom onto the assembly then you're in business and those AN fittings on the top shouldn't even be a concern.

Wow! I definitely wasn't expecting to see that. Looks like you BARELY ran out of room. I haven't put my unit bank into the tank yet since having the bungs added on but your pics have me very curious now. From already using my Walbro 400 the past year I know that at the very least it'll fit into the tank it's just a matter of the top clearing with the fittings on top. However I feel confident it'll clear seeing the differences in height of our bungs. You're going to make me go test and purchase some fittings in the next few days to see how it fits . I subscribed to this thread and I'll report back in it when I get my results.

I just used like 2 O rings and it fit up in the stock tube on the underside:

Had to modify the l bracket as this pump is taller, also I was able to use the rubber piece. Just have to cut it in half right where the seem is. Easy to do with a razor blade:

But, when upgrading lines I'd rather spend the money on something that is actually a bit of an upgrade over stock.

-6an is pretty close to same size as stock lines.

This reason exactly. Who wants to pay a couple hundred dollars for an extra 1/16th?

Well IMO, it is just overkill. The -8an lines and fittings are going to be larger and harder to work with. I know for a fact that Dacowgod made over 600HP with factory hard lines and race fuel. Only reason I upgraded was the switch to E85 which yes does require a larger volume of fuel, but mainly because people have had it eat through the rubber portions of factory lines and cause fires.

In all reality, for most, once you get rid of the banjo style fitting on the fuel filter you're golden.

I'm actually curious an not trying to question what you are saying or call you out...

But,
I have ran stock lines on my 1g for about 5 years with out anything like this happening.

I still have all stock lines aside from under the hood just about a year ago I swapped a few things out.

JFYI most Steel braided line is not gonna be any different then the stock rubber lines unless it's specifically "E85" safe $$ ... look at the rubber section in the pump in the pic above at that rate does anyone thing a braided section is going to hold up any better then any normal hose?

Stock like are going to be more then enough for the average person on here. In my VERY Honest opinion, anyone looking to upgrade their lines I'd skip over -6an and go -8an.

That's like having a way to control any injector to Run corn when you have 850's and spending $200 more to get 950's instead of 1150's or something bigger when you need it,
Just doesn't make scene to me...

Buy once and buy it so it's an upgrade. Anyone truly needing to make the switch is going to be at the requirement for the larger line and it wouldn't be over kill. Again IMHO... .

I see it as said as a waste. might as well go with running actual SS lines if ethanol is the concern for upgrading as well too.

also will I have to drill out the stock feed line and use a -AN bung with hose barb like first pictured or is it possible to connect the wally 450 to the stock feed hardline where finesse49ers is pointing to in his pictures a couple posts up?

^ You don't need to modify the outlet, that's just for those who want to run braided lines. You might need to tweak the L bracket a tad, but this pump is really no harder to install than a 255.

Will I have to wire in the power and ground on it? If so, what color wires are the power and ground on the stock harness that I will have to splice into?.. Or will it install and plug right in like a wally 255 kit does.
