i'm building a motor for my talon, which is going to have no balance shafts, bored .020 ross 8.5:1 street pistons,1mm oversized valves,p&p head, vpe lifters, and web cams.

I also bought a 2g mas, 20g, tial 35mm, 680cc injectors, and a s-afc. But i was wondering should i not put any of that stuff on when breaking in the motor. like should i use the stock injectors, stock mas, and don't hook up the afc?

and should i not boost until i get to a certain mileage?

ok but should i drive it with the stock stuff back in it until i get to 500 miles. and then put the afc, mas, and the 680cc in it?

and should i disconnect the wastegate so i'm not running any boost?

There's probably more superstition than fact available. Just think, thousands and thousands of these motors came out of the factory brand-new, right into the hands of mothers, secretaries, boy racers and just plain morons. And for the much greater part, survived just fine, in many cases over 200,000 miles.
I'd leave the new motor in the configuration it'll spend its life, with all accessories and geegaws you plan to have on it. Some boost while new, but no full-power runs for 500 or so. Don't overpsyche yourself, it really is _only_ an engine, and it's made out of really hard and robust pieces. You know enough to not beat it, that should be plenty. IMO, of course.

I agree with Defiant...

I just broke in my new motor and everyone has there own theory on how to do it and pretty much the only things I agree with is to change the oil often. I changed my oil after first 3 miles, 100 miles, 300miles, 750, 1500 and Im waiting now till I get to 3k then its normal after that for me and I switch to synthetic.

Some say be so gentle on it for 1k miles with no boost. Some say full boost runs in 2nd gear to seat the rings after first warm up. Some say just normal driving...etc

I just drove my car and was gentle is all. After about 500 miles I boosted a little on it, I gave it a few 1st and 2nd pulls during the first 750 miles and now after 1300 Ive been to the track and everything. I really dont think it matters to much, but I would be gentle on it anyhow cause Im anal and its worked for me in the past. My compression turned out perfect if that counts for anything...
