I am going to be getting my 34mm wg flapper for my sm16g and was wondering how many people have installed this themselves (not having the shop or co. do it for you)? What tools did you use? I read on the VFAQ for the wg flapper that he used some sort of open screw, but it doenst have any good pics or details on the install. I just need to know what i should use to fasten it back on to the wg arm, and i dont have access to a welder.

I would assume they used a drill press and a good level. (shrug) I would take it to a machine shop.. but thats just me.

Had a machine/turbo shop do mine. They have to machine out the wastegate hole to make it mach and seal correctly then have the 34mm one put in. Just take it. I got mine done for 100 bucks labor and everything included.

paid 100.00 for it when I bought the turbo new have no idea how to install! dont like the idea of drilling on my turbo I let the pro's do it

Get a die grinder or possbly a dremel and grind away at the stem of you stocker. There should be a little washer at the top, cut that off and you might have to grind away at the little stem. Once out, port the wg hole so that the 34mm flapper just covers it. Then install the new flapper and smash the top of the stem so that it mushrooms and can't be pulled out. Some people also grind a slit in the top so you can fit the tip of a standard screwdriver in there and just bend the two sides over, then when they want to remove it, they close that gap with a pair of pliers and can take the flapper out. Get it???? It's simple, once you see it you'll understand what I'm saying.

Thanks TRBOTSI, that was exactly what i was looking for. I have no idea what the wg flapper looks like yet, so i was just trying to get an idea of how to do it. When I looked at the VFAQ, I saw the sloted way, but i had no idea how to do it. I guess i should just wait till it gets here. Im just glad that i dont have to weld anything. :)
