I just got done installing my small 16g the other day. I had it rebuilt by forced performance and used the RRE hacker tweaker install it. With the old turbo I ran a 14.2. Now with the new turbo I have noticed that it seems to reach boost extremely slower than the old turbo. I made a run with my g-tech and only managed a 15.12 at 17psi. Something aint right, I was thinking maybe a boost leak. I need to try and get out the leak tester. Is there supposed to be any kind of a gasket between the turbo and the j-pipe? Any other ideas of why im having problems.
Jon

use silicone between the j pipe and turbo. But i dont think that would cause you to run so much slower. What are you using to tune? What are your fuel mods.

this doesnt relate to your topic but did your j-pipe come with a nipple on it to hook up a boost source?

No logger, no fuel mods except for rewired pump yet. I do have a nipple on the lower piping, I put a plug on it for now as I am running off the bov tube and need more tubing to redo it. I just used a pressure tester with only blowing in it to try and find a leak, i didn't notice any. I'm gonna run compressed air through it tomarrow and see if I find anything.

I just installed a big16G on my car. I know the feeling you are talking about. First off what PSI are you running? and what is your fuel setup? I think the big16g has a very linear (sp) power band. The T-25 was very fast and slammed the power band. The big16g feels like it really starts to pull past 14psi and onwards. I think the 16g really likes the boost range from 16-21 psi that is where it seems the strongest to me. Get the fuel mods, raise the boost to about 18 or so, and then tell us what you think.

yeah I am planning of fuel mods next twitch. I was just following websites power tuning and i was expecting high, mid 13's with my current mods. I am currently running 17 psi.

This is a small 16g, does that matter that much? I'll mess with the boost today after I make sure I don't have a leak.

doesnt matter.... even a small 16g flows ~50% more cfm than the t25.
You should definaetly get some fuel mods before you run anything over 14-15psi. You have got to be runnign very lean if your boosting 17psi

Ok, shes down to 15psi and it actually feels a bit quicker. I'm gone make a run tonight and see what the g-tech puts up, but it looks like I need some more $$$ in a hurry. damn fuel mods!!!:thumb:

oh and another tip... ditch the gtech and go to the track!
Your car could be much faster but still show slower times on the gtech peice of crap. Thta thing is highly innaccurate!

Well my local track isn't open yet so thats why I've been using the g-tech. Actually the results I've had have been quite good, when we used it AT THE TRACK last year it was always within .1 seconds. I am going to be tuning at the track though once it opens.
