OK, this was only supposed to be my winter car but the racing bug just bit hard this weekend and I'm ready to step things up a bit but I've been reading posts for 4 hours now and can't seem to find specific answers so here goes...
my current mods:
removed air can and maf silencers, 2g exhaust manifold, clutchmasters hdsb clutch, removed catalytic conv. K+N filter, some port work on the exhaust and turbo, starion fmic, removed balance shafts, 2g throttlebody elbow, hardwired fuelpump, removed all emissions and egr,mbc set at 15 psi, 2 1/2" exhaust turbo back
Here is what I would like to know:
I'm interested in the Ramchargers translator, but when it is in how do I know how to tune it? I know an explanation will probably take too much space here so a link is fine if anyone knows a good one. I have the same question about an afc, how do you know how to set it? What do you look at? What kind of performance gain if any should I hope for?
I'm thinking of upgrading injectors to be safer? Will it be worth the money on with the stock turbo? Ditto on an upgraded fuel pump? Found a 255 lph pump new for a good price. I also found a set of 550 cc injectors at a decent price. I know that is more than I need right now but I may go bigger later so why spend money twice if I don't have to, unless it will be more of a headache going that big at my level. Will I notice any performance improvement or am I just safeguarding against a meltdown?
Upgraded ignition? Is it worth installing an MSD and how the hell do you do it with no distributor??
The car is my daily driver and I don't want it to eat a ton of money but I know speed costs and am willing to spend, I just want to do it as efficiently as possible. Any other thoughts or suggestions are more than welcome. In the future I will probably upgrade the turbo but that is not in the budget right now. I'd like to see if I can get solid 12's with the stock turbo and other mods so when I can afford the larger turbo all the other goodies will already be there. Sorry if this is noobish but it seemed a little more advanced than "what is a bov?" so I figured I'd ask here.

For a 1G, get a pocket logger. It is a datalogger that you can use with a Palm Pilot, and will allow you to read important things like airflow, O2 sensor, injector duty cycles, timing, and knock from the ECU. This is what you need to tune a car with the translator. Do a search on datalogger, and there should be some good info on how to tune with it.

MSD ignition, short answer: No. Buy new plugs and wires, the stock ignition in these cars is actually pretty good.

Fuel pump is a good idea if you are going to turn the boost up. By looking at injector duty cycle(after you get a logger), you can see when you really have to get new injectors. But dont get the injectors without some sort of way to adjust the fuel, like the translator or AFC.

should I get a 255lph pump or should I get a 190? will a need a fuel pressure regulator with the 255?
