Ok this is probably going to sound wierd but I am able to get an intercooler off a new MACK truck. Its slightly used but BARELY. Would it be cool to use that if I got the end tanks rewelded?

Unless somebody has extensive experience with both intercoolers and Macks they won't be able to help you. Post a few pics with some reference dimensions and maybe you'll get some assistance.

Just getting the intercooler and getting the end tanks rewelded and IC pipes run....would that be worth it?

Can using that intercooler harm anything?

a forum member here got a ####ing MASSIVE i/c from a turbo diesel domestic, hacked off a good 8 inches, and welded the end tanks shut again.

it was a red first gen...not sure 1ga or 1gb...
ask him how his worked. a mac truck though, thats gotta be even bigger.

i saw a kid at the track last year that had one on the front of his 1g. it was huge. i think it may have been too big for his application though. i think he was running an 18g with it, along with fuel upgrades.....otherwise stock engine, etc.....

The source doesn't matter all that much, just so that it isn't too big for either what the turbo can pump, and that it'll fit someplace sensible in the vehicle.
Even Volvo -The Car For People In The Way- makes passenger car intercoolers.

I was thinkin about somethin like this, finding a Large core of a big diesel , having a machine shop build to intercoolers out of it.
I dont know how much somethin like that would cost, figure i could sell one on ebay.

Well the Diesel truck intercoolers I've seen are really thick, and it takes a lot of face area, and cool air to cool real good, because they are so thick, they get heat soaked after a little bit, and then it takes a while to get them cooled back down again.
