Why the 2G bov is worthless [Merged 9-8]

Is what I'm trying to figure out. People say it's worthless becuase it's a peice of crap plastic part that leaks boost...

The mechanics of a BOV seems pretty simple. Is it non fixable because the whole BOV is sealed and non serviceable? One would think it could be modified to hold more boost. I just like the sound of mine with my apexi intake and only running stock boost :) It's a nice woooosh or else ppsshtt if I let of the throttle quickly. I still have my dupe tube non modified. I'll try and get some sound samples with the apexi intake.
 
they say the 2g POS BOV is good for 12psi... but i've heard you can turn it backwards and it holds 15psi... i'd just assume get a 1g or aftermarket
 
Get the 1G BOV. Your car will feel SO much faster. The turbo won't have to work as hard to pump out air that the BOV is just going to leak back to the intake. As much as it should work in theory, a plastic BOV is a piece of shit.

Mine was leaking at 6 psi. You could push the valve up with your pinky

My opinion - their pieces of crap because the material their made ot fo is not durable. It just wasn't made for performance apps. Get a 1g or aftermarket bov
 
A little off topic, but what does a 1g bov sound like compared to the 2g's? I plan on upgrading my uicp and bov VERY soon since I left the track last Sunday. Only ran a 15.6 @ 11psi. WTF!?
 
it sounds like a bov should sound like, it lets out a wwwooossshhhhh noice. Now if u modified the 1g bov, it lets out a short pppsssshhhhtttt, the modified 1g bov will hold 30psi, and only takes 5-10 min to do ! and only costs $.47 for the set screws and like $40 for a 1g bov
 
I meant does is it quiet like the 2g or is it louder? It's all good though.

How do you modify the 1g bov to hold 30psi? What does it hold stock? I was told it can hold 20psi. I still have the t25 but plan on dropping in a 14b. Do I need to modify the 1g bov?

Sorry bout the incoherent burst of questions, but my head is fuzzy. Hmm, weird cigarettes...
 
my stock BOV sounds pretty nice you can hear it with the windows up and some music on. I am only running 11 pounds on a 16G so as soon as i put in that 190 fuel pump and the S-AFC i have siting next to my bed i can crank up the boost and let you know if it gets louder.
 
If you do a K&N FIPK intake, the 1GBOV, and cut your dump tube, the 1G BOV is loud enough to scare the neighborhood kids.

what's a good price for a 1g dejon tool modded BOV?
I am being offered one for $80 shipped.

SHould i get a greddy or such BOV?

yah, that setup sounds pretty decent. but for the money you spent on that intake, u could have gotten an aftermarket bov and uip pipe from dejon tool, maybe even the intake itself. But it does sound pretty good for the sock bov.
 
I have a 97 Eclipse GST and was wondering if stock BOV can go past 13psi or not?
 
I was also wondering if I get a new BOV, (Greddy), will the Stock UPICs be able to handle it without leaks?
 
Stock BOV leaks past 12 psi.

Stock UICP is very restrictive, and I reccomend upgrading the UICP and BOV at the same time for ease of installation.
 
I know a similair thread like this has been posted before but how much psi can a stock 2G BOV actually handle? I have heard 12-13 psi and I have also heard 15 psi. Which is true? Has anyone tested this?
 
I dotn think anyone has tested one, but we will wait and see. So far I have seen numbers from 9-12 psi. I am guessing alot of that has to do with the testers version of what a leak is.

Just thought that I would share this.

For the past 3 months ive always a boost leak that was killing me. I have a mbc and no matter how far I would turn it up I couldnt get past 9 psi. I replaced gaskets, injector seals, made sure all connections were tight, and still was leaking.

I knew my stock 2g bov sucked but I never knew it was the real source to all my problems. So I finally coughed up some money and ordered me a dejon tool uicp and a 1st gen bov. Got them both today, installed it, and what do you know MY BOOST LEAK IS GONE!! I left the mbc where I originally had it but just went light on the peddle and what do you know it went past 16 psi with ease. Ofcourse I let off after this so I didnt blow anything.

But long story short, it feels like im driving a different car! Im so happy my car is finally running 100% (Well close to anyways) :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
 
A stock 2g in GOOD condition will start letting boost pressure through after 11 psi. Congrats on the new BOV :dsm:
 
uhh..its suppose to hold stock psi(14) but the piece of shit leaks to 11-13 all the time so who knows
