rebuilding on a budget

ok I am currenty taking the motor out of my 90 GSX long term plans are 10's but I am spending way to much money on kart racing this year and need to save a little longer for my race motor cuz now its gonna cost about 8500.00 (next winter). so I am going to rebuild my current motor so I can still have fun this summer.
just wondering the best way to do this on a budget? it will be running a t3/t4 and all supporting mods. If I just use 1g and 2g motor parts maybe get some HKS cams. what do you think this would cost? or if anybody has any better ideas I am all ears.

95 pistons, 90 rods, and do all the free to very little money items like honing, port matching, cleaning the oil gallies etc etc yourself along with the basic maintenance items like water pump, T-belt etc.

That combo is solid to at least 450whp. Others have made 500whp on the STOCK 6 bolt motors, but I'm sure they are on the edge.
