Last night I pulled my 14b turbo off my :talon: (heh, thats new). I am planning to port it a bit, but I was wondering what you used to make sure all the metal shavings were out. Since its on the exhaust I shouldn't have to worry too much correct? Should I just use a air tank to blow out all the shavings that I can? Thanks.

First try to get it all out by hand and only then should you use the air compressor(be careful)

I wouldn't use forced air to blow it out .You'll probably end up getting the little shaveings into places yo don't really want them. I just ported my T-2small this week I simply shuved a rag( balled up ) in the hole , down as far as i could (while still being able to reach it . I also used a shop vac too suck out the shavings as I ported it . When I was done I vaced all I could see on top and as ipulled out the rag . Followed up by useing a thin long extension too get down in there .

As too why I ported my little T- 25 , well I was bored . But I will tell you It made a bigg Fu@kin difference .She spooles so damn quik it dumb . The one good thing now is that she will make 16 psi from 2,000 Rpm to 7,000 Rpm I couldn't beleive it . we'll just hace to wait and see how long she'll last now . good luck with your mod .

If you are on the exhaust side, just separate the housing from the center section. For compressor side outlet, I'd stick a rag down the hole. It is too easy to separate the turbine housing though.

yea i used the iar compressor but like 2.0turbo said take the exhaust side off first that way u can get everyhting out its very simple to disconnect good luck

seperate the housing no matter what, that's my opinion. i used brake cleaner, carb cleaner can be used. water will cause flash rust on the turbine housing.

Hey thanks for the tips everybody! I just got home from work and I was looking at the turbo again. How do you seperate the two parts? I took off the ring that holds them together but it wont come apart because of the turbine wheels hold them together. Maybe I am wrong, but what do I do too seperate them after I pull the clamp off? Thanks:thumb:

Also where all the oil flows through the housing, is it okay to pour some clean oil through it to clean out the old oil?

Sorry, one more thing!!! I ordered a "turbo gasket kit" made by Felpro today. The guy at Advanced Auto told me that it would include a exhaust manifold gasket. Is this correct? Anybody know what else would be included? This idiot was clueless, just making up stuff as he went along. The reason that I need a exhaust manifold is because I have a 2g manifold on right now and I am taking it off so I can port the turbo and manifold to remove the ring. Thanks again, sorry about all the questions!
