how to make custom 1g UICP?

Alrite, ive been to EVERY damn shop around here even the three import performance shops, and two shops who make a business around "custom pipe bending" and NOBODY can make me a freaking UICP for my HKS. so im going to take it upon myself to do it. All i really wanna know is what kind of pipes do i need. do i need like a 45 elbow for the TB, a 2 foot straight pipe, and a 90 elbow to go down to the intercooler? anybody who made their own can you please let me know how cuz im just gonna get this stuff welded together once i figure out how to make one. thanks in advance.

I am in the same boat. In addition, what diameters should be used. I also want to make a lower pipe.

I made my own UICP a while ago from stainless steel(didn't want to pay more than $200 for this piece, I think it is excessive) anyway you need the following:

1. 45° elbow (bend right after the TB elbow)
2. 90° elbow (Bend down to intercooler)
3. about 2 feet straight pipe
4. flange welded to the straight pipe for your blow off valve
5. rubber couplings and fastners

I was just getting ready to order peices for mine however i am building one for a 2g. Do you guys think that it would be very similiar peices to order? Also where do you order the straight pipe from i cant find it.

well blitzed..if you check VFAQ they show how to make the 2g, but not the 1g....such discrimination... j/k

yeah but its diffferent. I have already seen it. They use part of the stock pipe which blows. I was just wondering if 1g and 2g are similiar.

ohh ok...well then to answer that question NO they are not compatible. I had a greddy UICP for 2g and tried fitting it on my 1g and it did not work. it was quite a bit short however if you're custom making one im sure you can just shorten or extend it. DID ANYBODY ELSE ATTEMPT MAKING THIS PIPE? darktsi...those pieces you used, did they all fit and weld right together or was there additional bending needed for the straight pipe to meet the 45 and 90? Where did you get your pipe at? i want to buy mandrel bent aluminum.

turbolaser the pieces I posted do not need any aditional bending, they just need to be welded together and are a perfect fit.....I'll post pictures of my UICP soon. I used SS because I had it at hand, but if you have aluminum piping it would be better, it's much lighter in weight and doesn't absorb heat as much. It's not a difficult job...just needs good measurements and a little patience.

i found GOOD pipes, mandrel and pinch bent at turbopiping.com....the prices are reasonable too
