Hey everyone,

I am really lost, I have been reading all the threads about the SSQV and I've heard good and bad. Im getting kind of worried about installing my HKS BOV. Well, I've heard bad things which worries me, like, that if i vent it, I would run rich. Now i don't know if that its gonna be a really bad thing or not? will it? and I read that, people had incidents were the bov actually came off the flange. What i really want to know is if i were to vent it will i have problems? what kind of problems, and are they really that serious? Some have said that they vent theirs with no problem at all, what are my chances of that? What will make my bov just fly off? PLEASE HELP ME OUT, thanks, Joseph

yes you will run rich regardless. my car would not run correctly at all with it. they do make a recirculation kit for it if i'm not mistaken, so if you do run into problems venting, buy that. do you have a pipe/flange for it yet? if not look into one from atp. turbopiping.com

Buy the recirculation kit for the SSQ BOV (about $30.00 . Stillen as well as others carry it) and you will have no problems. Make sure you buy the universal SSQBOV when purchasing. As for flange, there are a few vendors that make them, or you can take your upper IC pipe to a welding shop and have them custom make one for you. Shouldn't be too much trouble.

I always heard rumor about a DSM fitment kit, but never could find it.....

The bov will not come off the flange. It uses a very strong snap-ring. You do want to re-circ it.

the bov will never come off the flange unless you want it to...and even then it may not cooperate with you. you should have a "snap ring" like john said and a little red rubber ring. put the rubber ring down into the recessed area, then put the bov on it....the rubber makes a seal, then fit the ring under the flange lip and use some snap ring pliers to squeeze the ring together and it will snap into place. It will be a bit ch to get in there but after that, it will never come off. i suggest a recirculation kit for a 2g car.

:dsm:

I too am running the HKS and I have 0 problems. Unfortunately mine is vented because the Injen intake I have has no BOV return tube on it. But even with it vented I have no problems. I know I am running rich in between shifts for a 1/10 of a second or so, but so be it. Doesn't affect the overall performance in my opinion. And there is no stalling or anything like that.

Does the SSQV come with the recirc kit already, cause thats what the guy I bought it from said. And if i do decide to recirc it how is the sound of the bov? any at all? If i were to vent it for a long time, will that damage anything since im running rich?

Is it pretty hard to install the recirc kit? Cause what im planning to do is, while im in town i'll leave it vented, but if i plan to take a long trip, i'll recirc it?

I really appreciate everyones help, thank god for dsmtuners.com! Thanks, Joe

Normally, recirculation kit is sold separately, but if your friend has it, more power to you :thumb:

When recirculated, the sound of the BOV is a bit quieter, you lose some of the trademark "chirp" of the SSQ when it's vented.

Venting and damage to your engine from running like shit will vary depending on how you tune. Some people claim to have been able to tune so that they could run vented with no problems. I have yet to see it with my own eyes though....

Install of recirculation kit is pretty straightforward, you should be able to handle it.

Thanx, thats the best price I've seen for a flange with shipping.

the BOV recirc fitting is only $15 not $30
and you will need 1" of 1" hose to fit over the fitting so it fits into the stock recirc tube (the 1" tubing acts as a spacer btwn the two)

LOL, if anyone thinks it still chirps when you recirculate it...they have NEVER seen it done. when you add in the recirc fitting, you TAKE OUT the noise making front part. its a lil more loud than a stock 1g bov.
