A friend of mine was saying you can take the intercooler off of a bus and since it was about the same size as most FMIC's you could fit it onto a 1990-94 Talon...and it would get a 1989 GT PROBE at least, into the low 14's... but I duno what it would do for a DSM... but what do you guys think.. it would be a cheap upgread from the SMIC.. and probly work pretty decent...i guess it would anywa..y

I have seen a LOT of big turbo diesel engines... and I have NEVER seen an intercooler... the diesel NEEDS the extra heat/compression to create the explosion... it dosen't have spark plugs...

the MAJORITY of the heavy diesels ARE turbocharged... the MB-40 aircraft tow vehicle uses a TD-O4H... I am wating for one to go to the scrap yard so I can snag one... but tell your friend that greyhound dosen't even MAKE buses... they are just a name on the side... and bluebird doesn't intercool their diesels...

Well let's see if this gives you any inclination as to if it will fit without any "modifications."

that looks like the radiator out of a semi...

hmm so they would have them... hmm couldn't you chop it in half and just weld a strip across the top and maybe relocate the intake and exit tubes?

becouse if you can even though it wouldn't be flashy it probly would work well and be cheap..

I don't know A) what radiators you have been looking at... cuz all mine run side to side... B) what turbo diesels you work with... I have seen a select few that were intercooled... but few and far between...

my suggestion would be to do a google search for semi+intercooler
or go to a local heavy wrecking yard, and ask "do you have anything with an intercooler?":thumb:

I see semis every day. Matter of fact one is sitting in my driveway right now. With the kind of boost they run you just about have to run an intercooler. I've never seen a side to side radiator. Check out my gallery or my webpage for more pics. I am gonna try a diesel intercooler. I basically cut it so that its 12 inches tall. Just need to move the entank inlets and outlets they are about 1 inch to narrow to clear the subframe.

yea thats good.. just dont wana waste some money to a good weld shop and junkyard.. although as long as it even works with one that big it couldn't be a waste it would have to be way better than the stock SMIC :)

There is a guy on this forum who did what you are thinking about! I cant remember his SN but he did it and it seems to work good for him!
