thinking about getting a 20G turbo for my 95 gsx. big worrie is that it wont spool fast enough with my awd to use on the road until i can make it a stricly off road car. was wondering if it would be able to take me to mid to low 11 possibly high 10s. is it worth it for the money and what kind of absolutly nessasary parts will i need. plz give me some feedback i want to know your position on this turbo.

Ill give you my feedback...

Enough of this wishing to go low 11's and high 10's... its not very likely that all these people will go this fast. There are tons of posts on this F U C K I N G site everyday about how someone wants to know about this turbo and wants to go this fast (which is usually tens or 11's, go figure huh). You do not even know what mods yo uhave done to your car. My suggestionm is to follow the tuning guide and just go one step at a time and learn a little, read a little before you try and go attempting tens with a 20g:thumb:

Other than that its a great turbo, but is doubtful that anyone will run tens on it (again;) )... Do a search on the turbo. Its been commented and posted about at leist 6 or 7 times in the last 2 days!

LOL Well said :thumb:

well yes 20g's have gone low 11's high 10's. only 2 cars have done it i beleive and john shepard was one of them. your car is going to have to end up being a tin can, your going to need infinity of mods, and you to become a tuning master and you need to pray the hell of your ass to the DSM GOD's and you might be able to do it. as for the spool up you think full boost at 3500 rpm is bad then you shouldnt be drag racing. stick to lil 16g's and start road racing if you dont like turbo lag. turbo lag is a good thing in a way. besides a big turbo will probally flow more air than a 16g at full boost at the same rpm as the big turbo getting boost.

Im still hittin 12.60s w/my 20g and love it. I know a guy with a 16g big and super 16 HRC and a guy with a 19c frank and these dudes are all a joke when it comes to DRAG racing. I roll w/modified RX-7s and Supra TTs here. I dont even play with anything smaller than a T3/T4 stage 3. Its boring.....
The 20g lag aint bad at all, helps you hook up better when you hit 25-30psi of boost, cuz when you hit the sweet spot hold on cus your burnnig real rubber even third gear. The powerband pulls longer and with the proper combos you will have a killer street/strip ride no doubt...
Next year Im going bigger still.

12.6 is awefully slow for a 20g considering i did that (12.7) on a 150k mile 14b I got for 100 bucks, on a 2g :D Buts its a good place to start. Just keep working on it. ;)

Lag on a 20g is nothing to even think about IMO, unless you autocross. My 50 trim gets 22 psi by ~3700 rpm, which feels laggy, but I dont mind it even one bit. Once boost comes on... ;) Do like candela said, and follow the proven upgrade path as people have done hundreds of times, and a 20g will get you 11s. But it will take lots of time and tuning, once it supported properly. Running a 20g isnt rocket science, its been done for years and years, and its proven. Good luck :)

[edit] BR did 10s on a 20g, and perhaps one other person, but low to mid 11s is more typical of a "fast" 20g powered car.

Exactly! His car is probably trapping in the 115 to 117 range give or take.

Guys, he is also from Colorado...

That is another reason his 20g only went 12.6 :D

The guy up here with a Mutt L3, cams, and tons of goodies ran a 12.06 which was pretty quick, but he would be deep into the 11s at sea level.

Damn altitude

Ah yes, altitude and FWD. I have a bad habit of alwys assuming AWD.... My appologies. I stand corrected :)

A couple guys down here were running low to mid 11s on pretty basic 20g setups, so all I Can say is I'm glad I'm down here :) :p
