i have a honda civic that i am putting a 2g eclipse turbo on. The block is farely stock on the engine so i don't wanna run anything over 5 or 6 psi till i build up the block. A friend told me the wastegate is set somewhere around 10-12 psi on the turbo, could i just replace the spring in the wastegate with a smaller TIAL spring to lower it down to around 5 psi?? also if i can do this what size is the wastegate to make ordering the spring easier?

The stock DSM wastegate actuator does not have a replaceable spring, so you can't do this.

You're going to need to find a comparable wastegate actuator with a lower actuating pressure; you could probably get one of the Garrett ones to bolt up with some custom bracket work, although I believe they pull rather than push so it won't be in the stock location.

You might try attaching a boost gauge and bike pump to the stock actuator to see where it does actually open...

man that sucks, i'll prolly end up just gettin an actuator off a different car then. do the actuators have to match up with certain turbos or could i use any actuator off another car with my turbo?

not very many stock actuators will go that low and be adjustable. Maybe a mid 80s 300zx Turbo??

But fitting it up will be custom work no matter what you do. Your car is not supposed to be turbo. If you buy a kit for your application, it should have all you need tho, but if you are just going to try and make a Garret t-25 fit on your Honda, you are gonna need alot of knowledge, money, and parts. Not to mention time.

best of luck.

yeah this is gonna take some time and all, i'm doin the home made turbo that some people do.. i guess i'll build up the bottom end then so it can handle the turbo
