All:

I'm in the Bay Area and am looking for a shop that can install my 3" exhaust turboback. I bought the exhaust from RnR Racing and am unhappy that the exhaust didn't come with flanges in-between pipes to allow for a simple bolt-on. Evidently, I have to use clamps for the pipes. The problem is - I don't have any and I don't have a new gasket for the downpipe.

I've called around a few places for installation work and I can't find a shop that will do it and provide the hardware! What gives?

Can I get some names of places that you know WILL do it?

i think its a slip fit system

Well, when I go home today, I will see if the pipes slip in. How does that hold on though? I mean, couldn't you have a leak?

-M

This is bullshit.

I will never buy another thing from RnR Racing. Not only did they not supply me with gaskets for the freaking downpipe-to-O2 housing, and clamps for each of the sections or pipes, but they also managed to not make sure the end pipe will "slide" into muffler NOR supply rubber supports for the hangars!!! Damn them!! The stock system has a bracket on the pipe-end that connects to the hangar via screw. I can't use those as stock replacements! Where am I going to get the rubber supports??

I should've went with a more expensive TRUE BOLT-ON system!

Now I have to freakin find a muffler shop to make the damn exhaust system fit (which will probably require welding amoung other things)...

On 2gs the rubber hangers stay on the car, and there should be some sort of bolt and nut that holds the exhaust hanger to the rubber part. If its a slip fit system all you need to do it find some sort of way to clamp it so that it will be tight. Try calling RnR to see what they say.

I plan on buying the 3in' turbo-back from RnR soon. Since you said it was a pain to install yourself should I just take it to a muffler shop and let them put it in? Could it be different for you b/c you have a 1G and I have a 2G?

First off the system is really easy to install. You don't need a muffler shop to do it. All you need is a couple basic hand tools and a little time. The hardest part is getting the old rusty system off.

You do not need CLAMPS. The slip fits are so tight that once you start your car the pipes will form to each other. This is a true bolt on and a lot easier than dealing with bolts and flanges and gaskets. This is the same exact way a lot of other vendors sell their turbo backs(Buschur).

Why didn't you just contact us if you had a problem? We could have easily answered all your questions. I am sorry you had a problem, but the exhaust will bolt up just fine and the slip fits will seal without any problems.

Contact me if you have any struggles and I will walk you through it.

you can reuse the O2 gasket as long as it isn;t real bad.

p.s. why the #### aren;t you installing it yourself? if yuu don;t have the tools or the know how sell your car now and buy a honda.

RnR,

I have emailed you with questions concerning my exhaust before and have not recieved any response.

I called you today and all I got was the answering machine.

The slip fits are too loose from the end of the downpipe to the start of the cat and from the exit of the cat to the next pipe. I can physically turn them with ease. The L shaped pipe does fit well to the pipe that comes from the cat, however, the Bullet muffler's entry hole has a small kink in it which doesn't allow the L-shape pipe's end to fit inside the muffler opening. I'll have to somehow bend that kink open.....

The rubber supports are a big problem next to the lack of a gasket for the downpipe with new bolts, washers, and nuts. Why would anyone want to put the same old bolts, gasket and washers back on the car when they've been rusted and heated and cooled many times already. Since the rubber supports are screwed to the stock hangers, how can they be used for the system which doesn't have holes for a screw bracket?

I can certainly put this on myself *IF* I had all the hardware and the pipes slid into each other.

I *WILL* attempt to put it on myself on Saturday. Who knows what will happen - my main concern is making the rubber supports work! I hope that the hangers on the 3" are at the exact locations that the hangers on the underside of the car are...

Yes, the pipes will slip together. The hangers on the pipes go into the rubber supports on the car. You slide the metal hanger on the pipe into the rubber support on the car. This will support the system.

All our systems come with slip fits and we don't have problems with them. I use them on all my personal cars. I don't know about any kinks, but maybe it happened during shipping.

We sell the system without the top gasket, but if it's that important to people then we will start adding the gasket and clamps. It's not a big deal, but we want our customers to be happy. Just request them from us or we can send them out to you.

If you a leave a message we will get back to you. Please email me with any problems.

I installed my 3" turbo-back with nothing but a socket wrench. It was very easy, it took like 20 minutes. I don't understand where you are stuck. The pipes simply slip together, and they hang from the stock rubber hangers with no additional hardware needed. Just to make sure the slip fits stay together, I bought three 3" muffler band clamps from NAPA auto. Oh yeah and I re-used the O2 gasket. As long as its still in one piece you should be fine.

No sense in paying a shop to install it when you can do it in less than half an hour!

RnR Racing,

I truly believe your company should include clamps and the downpipe gasket with new bolts, washers, and nuts to the downpipe. That is not asking for much and will ensure validity to claims of a *complete* system.

I have sat here for several minutes trying to get the L-shape pipe to fit into my muffler sleeve and I've had no success other than bending the rim of the muffler. I would very much like this to fit without sending the exhaust system back to you only to wait for another 2 weeks to get a return. It appears that the sleeve on the muffler is supposed to be the same size as the sleeves on the high-flo cat. I can put the cat ends into the L-shape pipe farily snug, so there is definitely something wrong with the sleeve that was welded on the muffler. I am skeptical as to whether you guys made sure that the sleeves fit each end of each pipe before shipping...

If I can still use the stock rubber supports, then I apologize for making that accusation...

It it hangs like most other aftermarket exhaust systems, it just hooks through the existing rubber mount and you throw the old bolt and washers from the mounts away. That's how my Thermal mounted or how the FlowMaster mounted on my Surburban.

Even if the pipe slip fit well, I'd still use some sort of clamp (Like the wrap around sheets) underneath the car so exhaust fumes can't leak into the car if it's sitting still.

If you live near the RNR shop you should just drive by there and have them look at it, I know they are also in CA. I personally have had every email I sent answered either on that day or the next at the latest.

Unfortunately I'm several hours north of San Diego.

I sent them an email last night, and have yet to hear from them..

All:

Ok, so I was more than peeved at my exhaust system yesterday. Sorry for the extra emotion. I really like good quality. Having said that, I just got email from RnR that they will supply the gaskets, clamps, screws, washers, etc.. for me and for future exhaust system purchases. They will also compensate me for having to get my muffler enlarged to fit the pipes.

Good customer service!

Ya, I didn't realize people really wanted all the little things. I do believe we will start providing these things to our customers. Just a little something else to keep them happy.
