Tried calling but get the machine...

well i wanted an L2R but didn't want the added complexity of the supporting mods...had a few questions so if Kevin or anyone else who can answer these questions plz chime in:

1) The L1R is comparable power wise to what turbo? (ex. big16g, 20g etc.)

2) Will this be enough to support an L1R : 550's, 190 walbro Rewired, Safc, VPC, and an IRC Street Core?

3) Looking to get into the Low 12s HIGH 11s...with a good amount of tuning could the L1R get me there?

4) How much of a difference is it b/w the TO4B and the TO4E? i dont want to bend the water pipe. Says on the site that the L1R has the TO4B but i've read a few L2R owners could opt for that instead of the TO4E. wondering if the L1R owners could switch to a TO4E.
a) ive heard i could buy a spacer from HRC and be able to run the TO4E w/o bending water pipe. How does that work?

5) Car is hardly dragged raced and this car is a daily driver. I dont plan on running on Race Gas so would this perform good on pump gas (92 octane)? Would this turbo be able to perform well on the tracks and on the street w/ pump gas?

thanks for the help guys...i was going to get a BIG16g but said screw it...ball bearing..mmmm...latez

1) the L1R should have the top end power in between a 20g and a 16g with better spool then both.

2) I would think you would be fine with 550s, a 190, and the IRC. Though it would not hurt to go with 660s if you could afford them to run a lil higher boost without stressing your injectors.

3) I honestly do NOT see this turbo getting you into the high 11 second range, maybe maybe low 12s but with some really good driving and incredible tuning. If you want to get down that low I strongly suggest a larger turbo. You should always over compensate for your goals.

4) I have the T04B on my L2R, I was told by Kevin and Ben I would see a 10-15whp gain from the T04E housing instead, If you rotate the compressor housing of the T04E you dont have to dent the water pipe either if I recall.

5) You might want to do a search for the phrase L1R* and look for a review by the user Tevenor. He wrote up a very very good review on this turbo.

thanks for reply..yes i did read trevnor's review...well written..just wanted a bit more specific answers..thanks again Larry

But didn't Tevenor already run like a 12.1 with the L1R (and on the stock sidemount IC)? I don't recall if that's the exact time, and he's changed his sig....

That was a 12.7

Edit: You always get the machine. If you leave a message they will call you back.

Oh yeah, that's right-- I just found it. Sorry. But he did also say this in his review:

"I can easily see mph much higher mph than what I was running with the L1R dipping into the 11’s in the hands of someone who can drag race much better than I."

1-Flow is = to a 20g but it's more efficient and can run higher pressure ratios.

2-That should be OK, not a lot of room for error though with 550's.

3-High 11's are doable with the L1R in an AWD.

4-T04E is not an option on the L1R, totally unnecessary.

5-It's a pretty good pump gas performer, not like the 50trim, but it will scoot you to some 12's on pump gas. For a turbo that gets full boost just over 3000RPM it's pretty darn impressive.

you have a 2G with a l1r you should be ok. with a E housing you may have to dent the water pipe a little but not much.

50 trim will make more power on pumpgas, but its a larger laggier turbo. l1r has full boost at 3k, 50 trim at 3700. BIG BIG difference in spool.

Other option is a 50 trim .48. I rode in a .48 50 trim yesterday, and the boost was amazing. On 14psi it pulled like a raped ape, and it had boost very quickly. I think the .48s would be a great option for alot of people willing to sacrifice 10-20hp for 300-400rpm faster spool. For a mostly street car, I would get a l1r if you want really quick spool, 50 trim .48 for better power but 400-500 later spool. If you want a dual purpose car, 50 trim .63, and for a more race car, 60-1.

That is what Tevenor got right. But he had 9:1 pistons and an external gate if I remember correctly. What kind of spool rpms do you think you would see with 8.5:1 compression and an internal gate? Given all the typical exhaust mods.

I would look to get the 660's if you are upping the boost with pump gas, especially with the S-AFC.

Have you thought about the SBR- GT-10?

http://www.slowboyracing.com/GT turbos/SBR-GT10/SBR_GT10.html

They claim 44lbs/min where as the L1R is 42lbs/min. Both are ball bearing and about the same price.

Full boost just over 3000 is the norm in 8.5:1 too. Tevenor has an internal gate.

BTW the L1R is $1200 with no w/g, the website is goofie.
