Louder than you can imagine. Like nine5raptor said Nascar style, I had mine open for one day that was enough for me.

See above, but think Rally Style instead of Nascar style! :D

P.S. It is not emissions legal in any way!!!!

Its crazy loud ! I had to do that when replacing my clutch, the bolts connecting the dp and cat werent comming off with an impact or a small torch, so me and a buddy cut the heads off and I was runnin the dp for the whole weekend, and it was loud as all hell , but sounded cool cuz when u revved u could ehre the Turbo spoolin up ! If you do this prepare to have all sorts of rattles all through out ur car !

if your really thinking abotu it you can get an exhause cut out. its an electricly opened door. alows you to open up the exhasue and close it when your dont want to deal with the noise. they run aroudn 150 I think, you would have to weld a flange on to the down pipe to makeit fit. or put in a y pipe where the cat and the down pipe meet.

is there a benefit to doing this,
with a stock catback?
with an upgraded catback?
thanks

I've ran open downpipe for the past week or so. Let me just say u wont be hearing anything for awhile. U'll find every rattle in your car and will notice some of the characteristics of your engine as if u had doc's stetho-scope (sp :D) Got bad to the point where I slapped my old stock exhaust back on. It's much loader in the car than outside. Everthing resonates in the cabin.

Advantages of an electronic cut-out:
1) free flow exhaust only when u want it
2) keeps the noise down
3) can be arranged to keep cat in line and also pass inspection

Disadvantages:
1) flow is limited when closed (still enough to smack Hondas around)

Essentially all u would need is a downpipe with an electronic cut-out. this would make one major sleeper!
