ok I am in the market for a new turbo, 145,000 miles on my stock 14b, well it just dont run the same. I am looking at a T3/T4, $700-800 aint to bad. But i have two questions. 1) Why does http://www.diamondstarmotorsport.com charge $1900? what is a full kit they are talking about. 2) What parts do i need in order for the T3/T4 turbo to run properly. oh one more question my friend just asked me, should i upgrade my pistons and connecting rods before i run this turbo?

No you don't need to build your motor to run the turbo.

You need a kit becasue a straight garret requires and new manifold, oil and water lines, and a new O2 housing.

I heard the stock engine can only handle like 14 lbs of boost, so how could i run that turbo without blowing a piston through the roof? ( my friend did that....LOL )

Who ever told you that was wrong. Many guys have pushed as much as 25 psi on stock (6-bolt) bottom end. I personally saw as much as 28psi last summer on a stock engine; all pistons remained intact.

The key to pushing lots of Psi is supporting mods, see the tuning guide for details.

90GSX is right about this. I pushed 25psi with my old 20g setup on a stock 6bolt without any problem's.

Shane818: I run DSMotorsports T3/T4 kit and it is great, come's with everything you need to put it on to your car. I had no problem's with the install. If your looking for a full Garrett kit for your DSM that will install great with no suprises the DSMotorsport kit is one of the best. I give it a thumb's up :thumb:!! My 2 cent's for today.

High boost and power is not the cause of engine failure. Detonation is what causes holes in pistons, and head gasket failure. Tuning is crucial in a turbocharged engine.
