Any difference between 1g + 2g 450cc injectors?

I know both gens use 450's in turbo cars so is it perfectly ok to use one 2g 450 injector in a 1g turbo car? Are they EXACTLY the same part?

They have different part numbers. But they both work on DSMLink with the fuel settings zero'd out. I would be willing to say they have the same dead time and global settings. I've used both with no problems.

Yeah but I don't have DSMLink and would be using only 1 -- 2g injector with rest of them being 1g's. So it sounds like I should stick with a 1g injector then.

I used the 2g 450cc black tops on my old 1g...worked just fine. They are NOT the same. The 1g uses a single spray pattern, while the 2g uses a dual spray pattern. The dual spray angles toward the valves....the concept was better combustion. Whether or not that actually happens, who knows.

But YES you can use the 2g black tops in the 1g with no problems.

The 1g autos came with 390cc injectors and ran higher fuel pressure to account for this, so this could pose a slight problem if you try and install 450cc injectors in an auto car.

Your totally correct Brian..What you can do in an auto car is install the 450's with a manual fpr, and 5 speed ecu..If you do not install the manual fpr is runs waay too rich..

Poof back from the dead.. my car is blowing alot of black smoke reving up ...stock fuel system and no tuning device...could it be that im running 1g injectors on my 2g GSX? or ?!??!

You shouldn't have a problem at all..I'm not an expert on 2g's, but they do not run different fpr's between auto's and 5 speeds..Maybe you should just pick up a set of 2g injectors,I see them all the time in the classifieds from 40 to 60$ shipped..Eliminating one thing at a time helps diagnose the problem better..

If your car is blowing a lot of black smoke revving up that means you're running rich, exactly the opposite of what would be happening if you had smaller injectors from a 1g A/T.

It could be a faulty fuel pressure regulator (fpr) so check fuel pressure using a kit from Auto Zone.

If fuel pressure checks good, 43psi at idle and the vacuum line off the regulator, then replace your spark plugs (.028" gap) and test for boost leaks. To be honest, even if you determine the fpr is bad you'll want to replace your spark plugs as they're probably ruined anyway and its never a bad idea to do a boost leak test.

I can't believe that no one has mentioned that Mitsubishi Injectors are color coded.

Pink - 240cc - (1g 2.0L n/t)
Tan - 390cc - (1g turbo auto)
Blue - 450cc - (1g turbo m/t, Galant VR4)
Black - 450cc - (2g turbo)
Yellow - 510cc - (evo 1-3)
Pink - 560cc - (evo 7-9)

And here's a way to identify them based on the casting numbers:

The corresponding numbers should be on the injector.

Non-Turbo 1.8L - N210H Injectors-casting #INP-057 (210cc High Impedance)
Non-Turbo 4G63 - N240H Injectors-casting #INP-059 (240cc High Impedance)
Turbo 4G63 A/T - B390L Injectors-casting #INP-008 (390cc Low Impedance)
Turbo 4G63 M/T - B450L Injectors-casting #INP-009 (450cc Low Impedance)
2G Turbo BlackTops -MDL450 casting #IPN-081 (450cc Low Impedance)
2.4 - MDH275-casting #IPN-065 (275cc High Impedance)
JDM motors that came with the B16G had yellow 510cc injectors
