I just blew my big 16G today and it sucks a$$. It was only a few months old. I was boosting 17 psi (stock injecters, stock pump, and stock intercooler) for a few days, but my friend told me to turn it down a bit. After that I was running 15 psi, and the turbo just went. I just want to know if that should've happened so soon. I dont drive it that hard usually. Can somebody tell me if I am right, or give me some better boosting precautions, thanks...

It happened because you dont have enough fuel to feed it. It ran the motor lean and your turbo heated up and popped.
Running lean will hurt the engine long before it will hurt the turbo. Who knows what the problem was- perhaps the guy's engine was on the way out and his oil was full metal.

Being that you revived a thread that was over 7 years old, I don't imagine we'll ever find out what really happened....and the O.P. most likely forgot he ever owned a DSM by now.

Willing to bet money it was a chinesse ebay 16g turbo.
Those didn't exist back in early 2003 when this thread was created.
