I just spun a rod bearing, and most likely trashed a bunch of other stuff. And im wondering where to find the best 6bolt prices, and how much I should expect installation included

im curious about this also and what about 6 bolt bottom end + 7bolt head? is it even worth it to do that?

I would contact one of the larger DSM shops for pricing info, and yes people use the 2g head on the 6bolt. Is it even worth it? worth what not having to buy a 1g head, its one less part to buy if your budget is tight.

The price I quoted was for installation of the engine.

Engine and head prices will vary depending on what you get.

ctc in dallas and theres also FP, im guessin ctc will b a little more price freindly. Im pretty sure that have done afew of the 2g 6bolt swaps also. :dsm:

so give or take $400

thats nuts, i got my motor installed for 500 bucks and a timing belt. that included removing my old blown cyclone motor

DSMAddict,
What kind of a motor are you wanting to drop in? more or less stock? What kind of head do you want to use? ported/polished, upgraded springs/retainers, cams? All of these decisions are going to have a huge impact on the cost. I'd agree that somewhere around the $2000 range for stock motor and installation would be "average."

For a 6-bolt swap into a 2g is where it get's pricey. Because they're some more things that you have to do.

Yeah pretty much more or less stock. Im on a budget but I want something decent, lower mileage etc. but nothing thats been heavily built.
