Anybody having trouble with their Russell Pro-Classic fuel fittings? I have a 90 degree on the outlet end of the fuel rail, and a straight one going into the fpr. The 90 degree one leaks. The straight one did leak a tiny bit until I torqued it to within a hair of thread death.
The leaks are not where the hose goes into the fitting - that part is bullet proof. It is leaking through the metal to metal tapered part, where the 37 degree angle is.
Fuel leaks are not my idea of a fun time.

To fix this, you can use a SECO 7 washer.

Just get the proper one for your AN fitting size. Use aluminum for aluminum fittings, and copper for steel fittings.

Pegasus - SECO 7, AN 37 Degree Flare Seal

TWICKS! I was going to PM you about this, now I don't have to!

This is amazing, I had no idea there was such a thing as these 37 degree flare seals. This sounds exactly like what I was thinking - there needs to be some soft metal in there. My fittings are all made from hard aluminum. Hard aluminum on hard aluminum does not sound very se-al-iscious to me.
So it sounds like I could get a bunch of the -6 aluminum ones and I'd be set.
I bought my hose and fittings as a kit. These seal things should come with the kit!

You know what kills me is I don't think my fittings are really what you would call defective. I wonder how many people are running around with slight fuel seepage because they don't know about these things?

Thanks man! :hellyeah:

Gary, I agree, these seals should be sold with the fittings for people that use them to adapt to other flare angles and threads. I would recommend picking up at least one or two spare seals as they are extremely fragile since they are thin and soft aluminum and can deform easily if you are rough with them.

I am happy I could help, as I have been there and done that with these fittings.

The SECO-7 seals work wonders and are a great price for the guarantee that your -AN fittings will seal properly and not leak.

I hope that everything works out for you with them!

This is something I wondered, if my 2 mating fittings were somehow not compatible with each other. I know the fitting on the hose is a Russell fitting made for the pro-classic hose and is a 37 degree hard anodized aluminum fitting.
The fitting on the outlet end of the fuel rail, I don't have a part ID for, but it is a 37 degree fitting, hard aluminum, anodized, and I think it is an Aeromotive fitting but not sure.
In other words, I think these fittings are supposedly compatible with each other. Street Tuned obviously thinks so, they made the kit.
Is it your experience that these fittings tend to be leaky, when used without the seals, even though the fittings are "compatible" with each other?

Hey Pegasus looks like a cool place. Located "Halfway between Road America and Blackhawk Farms" LOL they must be road racers?

Yes, they cater specifically to road racers.

As for the fittings, I have had all sorts of AN fittings over the years that had issues with properly sealing, not just the Russel ones. The SECO-7 seals can also mate standard compression fittings to the AN fittings, such as the stock fuel feed fitting on the 2G fuel pickup assembly without any sort of adaptor.
