I was considering buying a 96 turbo talon for 3 grand.. but it needs head gasket repair. How much would it cost to have a head gasket fully repaired or replaced and installed?

Thanks,

I have a 98 and it looks like it's time for me to do the same. I looked at Vfaq.com and found a step-by-step instruction. I think the head gasket is around $90 as listed on RRE's site. It looks like an hour work for a mechanic so at a dealer, it might be $1000 bucks.

:D

I plan to do it myself this weekend.

It also depends if the head or block is warped by the bad headgasket.

Ahh Nevermind.. I just called the place sellin the car, i saw the ad in a Feb. 1st Auto trader magazine, but he told me it was sold a couple weeks ago.. What an idiot :p

Gaskets run for around $35 for my GSX so it should be the same for you. The one in RRE is a bit thicker and lowers your compression by a bit cox it lifts your valve cover a little.

I would say look at VFAQ and do the repair yourself. i wonder if it's repairable under warranty, i still have it on mine. I doubt it though
