Im looking for a new turbo for my 97 eclipse gs-t. Saw a 16g with the install kit for $700 on turbochargers.com. Anyone ever do business with them? Good deal or not?

Good company...good deals. My 16g came from there.

They are a vendor of this site and have been known to have good pricing and good cust service.

I'm currently running an "Eliminator" variant through the rings for them. Sponsored ~ kind of. I agree with the RRE oil feed line as TechT mentioned above. Honestly in the begining I would have never gone to them due to their rep. But after being invited over by Wade (Turbo) to get a tour and look around at the real stuff that goes down, my mind was made up. As once spoken, "Not everything is as it seems." And yes I'm not the type to just jump into things. I researched my 2G path for year or two b4 buying my first mod :D

Wow, thats a totally different story from what i have heard. Most people I come across have had problems with their turbos within just a few months, and they are never covered on warranty. A lot of times they say something went wrong with the center section and turbochargers.com blamed them and their oil.

I have heard at least 3 seperate reports of this, but if other people had luck with them, then maybe they are different now. Decide for yourself.

I'll let the proper peep come on and answer that particular one, but have u seen the turbos and the actual damage done to them? I know of a few sour cases including one which they claimed it to be a frank turbo and it turned out to be a copy. Not trying to start a heated debate, just help clerify some past that spreads a bad name. They seem to have a harsh attitude sometimes (answering "Will a Big16G give me 350 HP?" can be a little nerve racking), but if they've been around for some 24 years, they have to be doing something right? :thumb:

Oh, I thought it was already common knowledge that they copy other manufacturures turbos...It says it almost blatently on their site that they are ripping off the Green and Red turbos. I have serious doubts as to whether any of their specialized turbos are original. I think they are all made in house with cheaper/inferior products to make them less expensive.

Thats a personal opinion however that i have drawn up from reading info on their site and others posts, so take it with a grain of salt.

The Frank 50 & the Frank 6 have many names .... mostly they come from our distributers / dealers. But yes , there are some copy's
of the Frank 50 & the Frank Level 6 that adorn colors as names.
I can guarranty you that there will be no Mitsubishi Fuso (diesel application) bearing housings put on your turbo , should you order one from us . They come standard with the Texas Monster Thrust bearing.
They come with the proper seal plate in them .... not the 16G seal plate that would just be all to easy to take the short cut & put in your turbo hence no "stair step machining of the compressor wheel" which is easily
explained to you guys as "The Southern Engineering of your turbo".OMG

Sorry for the rant guys ...... I just hate disinformation.
