small 16g no additional mods will be needed with a small 16g

what jdm said. get a 16g, pay close attention to how it comes off and just reverse the order to put it back on. make sure you get new gaskets and crush washers for sure.

Check out these links from www.vfaq.com on how to install the turbo.. I've found vfaq.com to be an invaluable resource in modifying and maintaining my dsm..

Also I would suggest getting a shop manual or a copy of the DSM Backup Manual CD (not sure where i bought mine).. Haynes or Chiltons both make decent versions of a tech. manual and you can get one from MachV.com on this link

As far as what size turbo you should get, it all depends on how much money you want to spend on supporting modifcations. Your cheapest route would to find a replacemnt 14b and make sure there is not shaft play (meaning the shaft the wheels reside on does not move laterally.) You could probably pick one up for as little as $100 on www.dsmtrader.com. On the other hand a small 16G would also be a good replacement if you don't mind paying a little extra. The 16G is going to give you a pretty decent increase in power as well!

Good Luck!!

I would think about having the timing belt done as well as some routine maintenance like plugs and wires.
